Following Tim Tszyu’s victory over Errol Spence Jr.,Amari Jones‘s manager, Rick Mirigian has called for Golden Boy promotions president Eric Gomez to make a fight between Tim Tszyu and Amari Jones.
AJ is no 1 for vacant IBF title and has some history with Tszyu as they have previously sparred .

Stevan Ivic defending his Aussie Heavyweight title against Brandan Grach as well. Teremoana is the mandatory challenger for the winner.

 

Interesting, as Grach only fought on the weekend and looks like he suffered a small cut near the eye

Another couple of wins in the boxing at the Commonwealth games this morning. Paul Trainor through to the semis in the Light Heavyweight division with a 4-1 split decision against a decent Welshman. Great effort by him to medal at this tournament. Really showed the benefits of competing in a week-long round robin selection event where he was up against a number of similarly talented Light Heavies domestically. He had to work very hard to make the team & has had to do likewise in this tournament to win a medal. Congratulations to him & the team on that result. You can't ask much more than blokes give it their all & he has.

Lekeisha Pergolitti also through to the semis with a hard-fought 3-2 split decision over Nigeria. Lekeisha has consistently delivered bling at the big tournaments (World Cups & the World Championship) & has done so again at the Commonwealth games. Both Lekeisha & Paul will face well credentialed English fighters who were very impressive in their quarter final wins. By my reckoning, that gives us six medals in total. Three in the men & three in the women from the 8 fighters we sent to the Commonwealth games. The two who didn't medal were defeated by very good English fighters & one of those was a flip of the coin job.

While we like celebrating the success of our fighters here on the Stifler's Mum thread, spare a thought for our Kiwi cousins. Following on from their failure to qualify anyone for the Olympics, the Kiwis appear to have laid another Kiwi egg at the Commonwealth games. While I haven't followed their fortunes closely, I think I'm correct in saying no medals for them in the boxing at this Commonwealth games. Not a sausage. Nada. On the plus side, they did score a spectacular win in the women's 100m on the track yesterday I noticed. So chins up, Kiwis. It's not all gloom & doom over there. In so far as the boxing is concerned, just like with Defence spending, Australia will continue to do the heavy lifting for you in terms of representing this part of the world.

 

An enticing prospect for whoever wins. We need Teremoana unleashed against the poms, as they haven't shut up since Wardley threw the luckiest punch ever seen against Justis.

 

thats a good fight, Blake Wells is a good fighter (hasnt progressed as well as i thought he would) could punch, he was a bigger body dont know if light heavy suits him, he was a better puncher at 91kg.

 

Thanks for the games updates, appreciated. Now if you could just avoid pussing off our brothers across the dutch, and don't forget they have the All Blicks.

 

Wells fights at 160, Middleweight. Has previously been at Super Middleweight and once or twice higher.
