Very likely, but because he's a much bigger man?

    What do you think?

I recall a pic of Golovkin stood next to Marvin Hagler, although Marvin had huge fists for his size, the bone structure and size difference is massive between them.

Golovkin Vs LaMotta -GGG bt close decision.
Golovkin Vs Dick Tiger -GGG by very close decision.
Golovkin Vs Zale- GGG by late stoppage or points.

Golovkin is significantly larger due to weigh in rules. He'd have been light-heavy in their day.

We had a pretty intense GGG / LaMotta thread a while back. It might be worth finding if you want some good analysis.

People will probably think Tiger does the best against Golovkin because of his size and power. I actually think he does the worst, because of his plodding footwork, unremarkable speed and the fact that Golovkin has an ATG jab. He'd absolutely take Tiger to the cleaners with that jab, and win a wide decision.

Aside from being bigger, he is the much more well rounded fighter. That's no shot at Zale, Lamotta or Tiger. It's just the truth. He was the better boxer, harder puncher and had a chin that was at worst, equal to LaMotta.

    Hi Guys.
Interesting thread, personally I seldom compile lists or rankings, I don't have the mental dexterity, or the patience, I could muster up say a top 3/4, that would probably coincide with the general consensus, with maybe a few up and downs, which leads me to my question, would I be right in thinking there would not be a lot in the split, when ranking these 3 fighters, ie: they would be fairly close , maybe only a few places apart, and if so, in what order would you have them, just wondering. thanks.
    Mike.

If he boxes like he did against Lemieux, then very possibly IMO.

If he boxes as cautiously as he did against Lemieux, he stands a chance of losing to all 3 of them. These men are several levels above Lemieux. (A fighter with a big punch, but no heart)

I'd only favour him against Zale, honestly. I think that would be a good match-up for him.

Fixed it ;) I think that you are confusing an educated, skill-heavy approach with timidity. GGG took Lemieux apart like a watch, it was verging on a massacre:
