Had a very average career.. take away the 3 years wasting sitting around and another 3 years before mega showdown with Terrance Crawford.. Him beating Mikey Garcia was like Crawford beating Gamboa.
Of course the PBC dickrider who toes the party line scores it like that. Meanwhile, one of the official judges and 50% of the RBR scorers saw it differently. The mere fact that there was controversy is proof that it the outcome was debatable and he came close to losing it.
All honesty, I couldn’t care who rated Spence or who didn’t rate him, I just needed an excuse to comment so I could mention once more how chinny and big nippled Benavidez is.
Carl Froch is a flat earther, it doesn't DQ from being able to properly process what he's seeing in a boxing ring. You have plenty of bizarre political **** takes yourself, so you probably shouldn't be going there.
I understand how punches are suppose to be thrown, how they should be properly defended, how to manage distance, how to manage pressure, how to dictate action, how to provoke reaction, when to push and when to pull, etc... i can also gauge a fighters physical attributes like strength, speed, reaction time, endurance, punching power, overall toughness, etc... that's why i considered him a great fighter. he fits in with the above criteria of what i see as requirements for an elite fighter....at one time.
As should any theory be considered. Einstein's Relativity was disproven some time back. This is actual scientific process rather than the pseudo corporate science which abounds.
Threads like this just make me shake my head. Boxing fans are so negative and can't wait to kick a man when he's down. Of course Spence was good ? He won 7 world title fights by any definition he would be considered a world class fighter. No he wasn't a great and maybe he was a bit overhyped and overachieved reaching top 5 P4P. But he'd also been in multiple car crashes and was mentally/physically never the same after it and arguably suffered CTE injuries from it. For the record I picked Crawford to beat Spence and I don't think any version of pre car crash Spence beats Crawford simply because it's a bad style match up. But his recent loss is after a 3 year lay off fighting outside his best weight class at age 36 and he still went 12 rounds give the guy a break. Spence had a good career and I think most boxers would be very happy with the career Spence had.
He was the number 2 welterweight of his era, and for most of that era was considered the number 1. That counts for something
