WBA names Jarrell Miller as the mandatory for Murat Gassiev

we need an American with a belt, especially one like him who can trash talk

 

Gassiev is horrendous. Very winnable fight for Miller.

 

not sure being recognized as a top heavyweight on the planet is the same as being horrendous

 

I think Gassiev is a better single shot power puncher than Dubois, but Gassiev's output (not counting his fights against bums) is ridiculously low. Miller needed a 10 round nonstop barrage from Dubois to get stopped. Gassiev also has a questionable chin at heavyweight, so I think he'll get buzzed like Pero.

 

I would love to see Miller beat Gassiev who is a fraud...

The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee wishes to clarify an inadvertent error in the publication of the July heavyweight rankings, which incorrectly listed Jarrell Miller as the division’s official mandatory challenger.

The heavyweight division has one official mandatory challenger: Moses Itauma, who currently holds the No. 1 spot in the rankings and has been awaiting his world title opportunity for several months.

While Miller returned to the ring on April 24 and earned a unanimous decision victory over Lenier Peró in Las Vegas, it is important to clarify that the bout was not a final eliminator. As such, that victory did not make him the WBA’s official mandatory challenger.

The WBA sincerely apologizes for the inadvertent error and any confusion it may have caused. This clarification is being issued in the interest of maintaining transparency within one of boxing’s premier divisions and ensuring that the public has an accurate understanding of the current status of the heavyweight championship picture.

 

I think it will be a good fight. However, Miller should be away on a lifetime ban for his drug offences...

Remind me who his best win is. This is the same guy who lost to Otto Wallin in Russia, right?

 

I think Miller is a handful for any HW. Win or lose.
Miller is getting older but I wouldn't want to bet against him with his high work rate and solid chin
