The Pero fight was a title eliminator or at least marketed as such. The WBA wants that Ituama money or at least is banking on the fact that Ituama will become a cash cow. Nothing new, though; the WBA makes up rules as it goes.

Gassiev has had his fifteen minutes and his time at the top is ending soon.

Hope they match him with Itauma, give him a legit title defense. Either Itauma gets chin checked or stops Gassiev.

 

Let's be honest, losing to Wallin is disgraceful and it is now impossible to consider Gassiev a top heavyweight.

He simply had an off night against Wallin. It happens to almost all fighters! Something was wrong with him. He weighed in 17 pounds lighter than he normally does. He's never weighed that low at Hw.

(Yet still it was a split decision)

I'd usually give someone a pass for an off night, but other than an ancient Pulev who else has he fought at heavy? That's why he gets a lot of stick.

I want Gassiev to succeed, but he's not showing us much at the moment and that needs to change. I'd love to see him splatter Miller over the canvas.
