Gold medals to Jye Dixon in the Men's Bantamweight & Emma Sue Greentree in the Women's Middleweight. Both beat Indians on a day when everyone else was getting their arses handed to them by the Indians.

Silver to Jacob Cassar in the Men's Welterweight. Had a break-through tournament despite running out of steam in the final. Superb performances by him earlier in the week.

Jye Dixon has said he intends to turn pro by the end of the year. No word yet who will be his promoter but his good mate and mentor Liam Wilson ( No Limit ) may have an influence on this.
Joe Camilleri has reached his highest world ranking and is now WBA no 12.

Camilleri never ducked anyone. If he loses to Hardman it will not affect his ranking. He says says his goal is to reach top 10 by end of 2026.

Amd getting knocked out potentially or taking punishment with 4 oz gloves can affect that. Dumb move fighting with those gloves at this stage of his career when you're at your highest peak.

It's fight week for 'Sugar Neekz' Johnson.

Absolutely huge test coming up next weekend against Thorslund. She wins this and she is the best bantamweight on the planet.

Would like to see Jye Dixon stay in the amateurs for another couple of years. He's capable of winning medals at the World Championships next year & at the Olympics in Los Angeles. It significantly weakens the national men's team if he's not on it. He has had a lot of close decisions (& not so close ones) go against him in the amateur ranks though so it wouldn't be surprising to see him launch a professional career off the back of his Commonwealth games success. Liam Wilson turned pro after a Commonwealth games. So did Andrew Moloney.

There's been some turmoil outside the ring at Boxing Australia although it doesn't appear to have affected performances inside the ring. The national coach resigned at the end of last year & is now coaching the Indian women's team. The CEO of Boxing Australia resigned on the eve of the Commonwealth games.

Our four best amateurs in Olympic weight divisions are Jye Dixon & Jacob Cassar in the men's & Lekeisha Pergoliti & Emma Sue Greentree in the women's. Need to keep all of them in the amateur ranks if we expect to win medals in Los Angeles. I'd be looking to add the likes of Riek Chuol (20 yo Bantamweight who could be moved to Lightweight) & Ciara Storch (20 yo Lightweight or Welterweight) to the national team lineup for future events. Storch has indicated she also intends to turn pro later this year. Some of them might have the intention of fighting both amateur & pro, but as we've seen with Callum Peters, it's easier said than done.

Thanks BS. I enjoy watching the young people on the national amateur team. They've been doing a great job for us in recent years. I reckon that Samoan Super Heavy would go alright in a green & gold singlet also.

Ryosuke Nishida vs Sam Goodman for the interim IBF Super Bantamweight Title and Tomoya Tsuboi vs Ricardo Malajika for the vacant WBC Super Flyweight Title have been added to the Takuma Inoue vs Tenshin Nasukawa undercard on September 27th .

Goodman will never get a better chance. If he can't win this, he'll never win a title.
