Don't knock it, you seem to be one of the people that was right about the second fight.

The stats are a counter argument to your suggestion Lewis put on a masterclass in which Holyfield didn't lay a glove on him for the first 4 rounds which is baffling.

Whilst the stats are not 100 percent accurate they certainly paint a different picture than what you were trying to portray on what happened in the first 4 rounds.

And even without the stats its clear the first round was highly competitive with Holyfield doing some very effective jabbing.

So i don't see why you have such an issue i still scored the fight for 115-113 for Lewis which is a perfectly reasonable scorecard

Lastly If I scored a round for Holyfield for his effective jab work what has that got to do with aggression ?

Where did I say I scored the round for Holyfield based on aggression ?

Funny fact, on-line scoring had it 115-113 for Lewis, and Ring had it a draw 114-114. Ring gave rounds 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 & 12 for The Real Deal.

Hey Buddy, perhaps the first 4 rounds weren’t quite as clear cut as I recalled, been a few years since I watched it. The 1st was definitely closer than I expected after rewatching it . The 3rd though? Definitely a clear round for Lewis every day of the week.

Nothing wrong with challenging opinions and disagreeing. That’s the beauty of discussion. I have been on ESB Classic for a long, long time and seen many members being permanently banned due to over-the-top remarks during some debates.

    Keep up the good work.

Neither their first nor second fight was judged fairly.

No problem mate in the end debating over 1 or 2 rounds is a moot point. Because we both agree Lewis won regardless of the 1 or 2 rounds we disagree on.

Have a good day mate nice to share some thoughts with you.

Close enough. But I have Holyfield by a point.

The second fight Lewis looked lethargic while Holyfield had significantly improved. I just do not think that was Lewis best performance. To me this was a draw or a 1 point win by Holyfield.

Even though the rematch was closer than the first fight, I thought both fighters had noticeably improved.

I would only describe Lewis as lethargic in the first fight.

I would say Lennox was in his best form ever in the first fight. His best performance, flawless, surgical, no mistakes made.

Nowhere near assertive enough though—very one paced too. Wasn’t willing to take the necessary risks to put Holyfield away. Steward certainly wasn’t happy with Lewis’ performance that night. And mind, he had a very poor and below par version of Holyfield in front of him. While Lewis did dominate and was robbed of the win by the judges, performed below his standards.

Not saying it was his worst performance, but not the best either.

I've always felt Lewis could've stopped Holyfield in their 1st meeting had he put his foot on the gas a bit more.

The 5th round especially when he had Holyfield along the ropes for a over a minute had he put together a few more devastating punches. I believe he could've floored Holyfield who looked disheartened throughout the fight.

I see an interview with Holyfield where he said he thought about quitting in the 1st Lewis fight. But he didn't because he didn't want people telling his kids their dad was a quitter.

Lewis did too much thinking and not enough flowing in the first fight. It was almost as he was programmed to do no more than edge the rounds. And you’re right, Holyfield was there for the taking. 100%.

Actually, it was Lewis that could hardly lay a glove on Holyfield through the first four rounds. Holyfield was parrying nearly everything Lewis threw.. jabs, uppercuts, right hands- Holyfield swatted a lot of Lewis' offense.

For me Lewis had clearly won, by a small but clear margin (same as Holmes-Spinks 2, where Holmes deserved the win, I wrote that less than a minute ago). The issue with the verdict wasn't in the second match but in the first, where Lewis was robbed, but I think we're all in agreement on that here.
