Lot of the names I was thinking of were already mentioned so maybe they're not as underrated as I thought!
Archie Moore (as a heavyweight) Jimmy Bivins Harold Johnson (prob my most underrated guy) Eddie Booker Liston Mayweather (grossly underrated by many in classic) Dempsey Ezzard Charles maybe not underrated but sort of ignored Rex Layne Povetkin
1. Billy Conn 2. Harold Johnson (because his name kind of sucks, probably) 3. Barney Ross 4. Tony Canzoneri 5. Bob Fitzsimmons 6. Fighting Harada 7. Michael Spinks 8. I know this won't sit well on Classic but Andre Ward. I don't really understand how deluded I think people are about Andre Ward even having an ATG status, so I feel he's terribly underrated in that sense Now, I don't know that many boxers, so, I'm going to try to make up names that sound like they would fit here for the last two: 9. Lip MacShuvelsky (ethnically nonsensical, but tell me it doesn't sound right), aka The New Samsonite Assassin 10. Shev Deverson, The West...Tarantellasville Hellion
Joe Goddard Tut Jackson Tiger Flowers Freddie Steele Dick Tiger Jose Luis Lopez Julio Cesar Vazquez Azumah Nelson Johnny Tapia Wlad Klitschko
Here's 25. In chronological order Root Schreck Dave Smtih Jim Coffey Billy Miske Lee Anderson Knight Tommy Loughran John Henry Lewis Braddock Al Gainer Tony Shucco Leonard Morrow Lloyd Marshall Lee Murray Bob Baker Buster Douglas Mike McCallum Oba Carr Derrell Coley Eric Harding Tim Bradley Dierry Jean Luis Ortiz Spence I feel lists like this change gradually cause it really depends whose on your mind at a certain time.
I could only think of six off the top of my head: Mike Hunter Sr. (had some good wins and was robbed multiple times against good fighters, very slick and awkward heavyweight) Laurent Boudouani (at one point of time he was the best super welterweight in the world and he is rarely talked about) Keith Holmes (very good middleweight, if he was in today's middleweight scene he would be undisputed) Zack Padilla (I don't know why he quit, but if he hadn't, he would probably be inside the top 3 P4P rankings. Highest work rate I've seen) Cristian Mijares (I don't hear his name mentioned, but at one point of time he was the man at super flyweight) Ivan Calderon (minimumweight H2H #1)
Ricardo Lopez is #1. After that it dropsoff next is a handful of guys you had to spend decent money on to get their fights; JC Gomez Erdei Michalczewski Brian Mitchell Nazarov next are guys w/ styles few liked; Fullmer Chris Eubank Aaron Pryor Last--shaky vote for John Tate. He looked pretty good in those early bouts of his before he got ruined in that Weaver bout.
