People try to downgrade Tyson's win by saying "muh Spinks is a blown up light heavyweight"

Let's look at this. True, he was a light heavyweight and one of the best to ever do it at 175. But when he stepped in the ring with Tyson, he was 6'2 212 pounds. Larger than the vast majority of pre 1970s heavyweights. Michael Spinks from the Holmes fight to the Tyson fight not only would have been a heavyweight but a larger sized heavyweight for most of heavyweight history.

And late 1990s RJJ, Kovalev, Adonis Stevenson, Beterbiev, A. Yarde, David Benavidez would have been heavyweights for much of heavyweight history. DB was 196 pounds at 6'2 in his last fight with Zurdo and looked very good. Before 1980 and certainly 1970, that means even if he starts at light heavyweight, he likely still fights at heavyweight.

Therefore, Michael Spinks at heavyweight was a heavyweight that was a former light heavyweight. Not a "blown up light heavyweight".

Yes. Spinks had already proven he was great at heavyweight. Tyson deserves credit for beating Spinks, and being the only man to ever beat him at all.

People try to discredit Spinks’ wins at HW, but he beat solid names who were put in front of him, and I’d have him beating many top heavyweights throughout history. Tyson had a bad set of attributes for Spinks to deal with, and, but there are many other solid heavyweights Spinks could beat stylistically.

Lol, he did not. He beat a 35 year old Holmes, got a dodgy second decision over the same, beat Cooney and Tangstaad. That is hardly "great." He was a great fighter and a serviceable heavy.

True, Spinks had four fights at HW, two wins against a still dangerous full blown HW Holmes who is a top ten HW all time. Tyson's blowout of Spinks is highly underrated.

Well McCall, fresh off a KO win of Lennox Lewis hardly beat a 45 year old Larry Holmes

McCall was nothing special. The Lewis fight was a Don King stoppage and the entire world knew that.

King's knockout was cleaner anyway than the one Turki Alalshikh witnessed in Usyk's last fight.

Lol, no. Lewis was up at four and they stopped it. Not sure how that was clean to you.

Lol,Berbick got up even faster against Tyson—he actually got up three times. What matters is how you react after a punch; you can be knocked out even while standing. Lewis was unsteady on his feet; the referee saved his career.

But what matters is how you conduct yourself after taking a hit—didn't you know that? There are plenty of fights stopped while the fighter is still on their feet, and plenty where a fighter got up but was too hurt, so the ref wouldn't let them continue. Lewis got up at the count of four, but he was dazed. That’s not a good spot for him to be in...

Besides, regardless of that, focus on the main point: a 45-year-old Larry Holmes didn't have to get up even once against McCall...

Show me the 45-year-old Holmes—the one who, according to you, had been aging from fight to fight over the previous decade—lying on the canvas against McCall. Maybe it's on YouTube?

McCall is not that good I don't have a dog in that fight. Don't care.

Spinks is that paradox where if someone beats a fighter in a certain way they seriously devalue the win. If Tyson beat Spinks mid dif the win would be more valued.
