Primo Carnera's best wins. He was actually a good world level heavyweight

If it appeared that way to you that’s fair. I just see it differently.

We have the statements of his manager, and the fact that several of his opponents were suspended, that's good enough for me.

He actually was so-named because he was the first sperm to make it to the egg. His parents had 14 other children, all named Primo or Prima. One was named Prima Vera, technically, because of the way in which she was first served. I don't know what that means either, but that's family lore for you.

The Stribling fights were fixed so that each got a win and loss by dsq ,so no real damage was done to either's career.
    1929
    Primo Carnera
    Velodrome d'Hiver, Paris, Paris
    W

Carnera struck Stribling from behind after the bell ended the seventh round. The bout was probably fixed. Weights from L'Auto.

    Nov 1929
    Primo Carnera
    Royal Albert Hall, Kensington, London
    L

Both fighters down in the third. Carnera down from low blow in 4th. This bout was probably fixed. Stribling boxed his chauffeur in lots of tank towns .He was known to do business among his "bagged/strange" fights are the following.
    Beibel
    Levinsky
    Simms
    Odowd
    Gibbons
    Doctor
    Charles
    Carnera has
    Peterson x2
    Rioux
    Chevalier
    Harris
    Among others to his "credit"lol

The perfect answer to someone who who tries to declare an option as a fact. I learned long ago think what you want...it's not my job to make you believe.

this thread is wild to me.

everybody who knows history knows carnera was **** and his fights were fixed. i'm sure 99% of people who read this already know his manager was a gangster called owney madden.

everybody who watches old fights knows carnera was ****.if you think he wasn't what the hell is wrong with your eyes.

So maybe my wording in my original post was too black and white, to the point where it sounded like I don't believe any fighter from the 30s and 40s would do well H2H against solid contenders. I do believe, however, that the stance of fighters had greatly developed from the fighters of the 30s and 40s. I do think a lot of '60s and '70s fighters are overrated because they fought Ali, and Mildenberger is one of them. Honestly, Schmeling is better.

so what? this is not about eras.

have you ever seen a fighter worse than carnera? watch his fights and find a way to say that the other guy wasn't trying to lose.

This is a separate post regarding the skill of fighters from the 30s and 40s, not specifically about Carnera, who I don't rate highly H2H but believe has earned his place in history as a champion and should get more respect, along with every fighter from that time period, regardless of how skilled you think they are compared to current and former fighters.

Something I genuinely don’t understand about this forum: we’re apparently supposed to believe guys like Galento, Carnera, etc. were deceptively skilled, when we can literally watch the footage and see with our own ****ing eyes how awful they were.
