David Nyika vs Viddal Riley ordered for vacant IBF Cruiserweight title

Viddal Riley has shown me his level with his performance against Masternak, so I'm taking Riley by decision.

But we know Opetaia and Benavidez are on a different level at cruiserweight, so I hope we get Opetaia or Benavidez to fight for the IBF next, then Opetaia or Benavidez to get the WBC, and then finally unify.

 

It was a dull fight but I have to say Riley surprised me and was excellent against Masternak.

 

Nyika won’t touch a glove on Riley for 12 rounds,

 

Aussie Dave all the way for me. Need to make sure the fight is out here though with mandatory drug testing. No point going over there to fight. A British ref & stooge European judges will lead to an inevitable result. Also, British drug testers are good at catching Kiwis & not so good at catching Brits. As for the Brit's win over Masternak showing us his level, didn't Floyd Masson fight Masternak in Poland & get robbed blind? If you want to get robbed blind, go over there. If you want a legit contest, bring the fight here.

 

Sounds as if Aussie Dave was Portuguese Dave you would be picking Riley.

 

Nyika fighting is like watching paint dry. He can't knock the fluff off a cappuccino. The other side of that coin is Riley hasn't got any fluff to knock off. This one could be a draw and go to penalties. Whoever holds their nerve from the spot wins.

 

Not a fight that gets me too excited. Riley via UD, I'm yet to be convinced that Nyika is cut out for the pros, although I do want Nyika to get up.

 

There have been a few who were going great guns until they ran into Opetaia and I'm wondering how it has affected Dave.

 

I don't think that made a huge difference as to where his career was headed regardless. His fight with Karim Maatala earlier in his career where he barely won, told me that he'd get walked through as he steps up the levels.

 

Should make for a decent fight.

Riley was impressive against Masternak but so was Nyika in losing to Opetaia, who is just a level above all of them.

 

There's too much red tape and politics involved for that to happen. Best we can probably hope for is for Benavidez to fight the winner of Riley-Nyika. Underwhelming, but realistic.

It would be the most boxing thing ever if Nyika suddenly had the IBF strap after being knocked into another dimension by the rightful champion. Nyika has looked gun shy to me since then.
