Imagine Benitez walking down Shane Mosley.

Leonard wouldn’t have been able to clown a fit Duran who could cut the ring and had his number inside of a round.
And If Leonard had tried those tactics in the first fight he’d have disgraced himself.
The stars aligned for him with Duran coming in a shell of himself in the second fight and Ray being able to use the ‘I beat him with movement’ bs.
Leonard barely won a clear round over little Duran in the fight that mattered.

A faded Shane, who was nowhere near the guy who’d fought Oscar.

    Happy trolling.

Mayweather wanted to renegotiate his rematch clause with Oscar. Oscar wasn’t having it so he “retired” for the life of the contract. lol at Mayweather “ducking” the rematch with Oscar. He knew Oscar was practically shot. Oscar’s fight with Forbes showed that. Mayweather threatened to fire his uncle for training Forbes to fight Oscar. “Messing with my money.” Was his complaint. As for Pacquiao, he was as much to blame for the delay as Mayweather. At 135 and 140, Mayweather fought just about anyone that would bring a decent purse. For detractors, whenever a fighter doesn’t fight someone when they think he should, that is “ducking “.

    Doesn’t change what I said.

A shell of the guy from the late 90’s-early 00’s.

    What a joke.

If he knew Oscar was shot, he’d have taken the easy money.

Floyd clearly ducked Manny for years.

Road block after road block, because Roger was filling his mind.

Margarito seemed to have trouble walking down the same guy.

    So?

    You don’t rate Marg.

    He couldn’t beat Mora afterwards.

    He never did anything afterwards.

Floyd had many wins better than Shane.

Margarito was great at walking down fighters; he failed while Floyd didn’t. Mosley’s career post Floyd isn’t terribly important or else we’re going there with Benitez falling apart too.

    Different stylistic match ups.

Marg was tough, but B level.

Despite beating Marg, Shane was the shell of the guy who’d fought Oscar.

There was nothing overly impressive about how Floyd beat Shane.

The point about what he did after, is to show you where he was at the time.

I don’t care what Benitez did after.

Your initial post was a sarcastic one, whilst trying to hype Floyd’s win over Shane.

    “Imagine Benitez walking down Shane”

    So what?

Imagine Floyd signing to fight Hearns and giving him a competitive fight?

I dunno but is it the same people who, on one hand, allow Ray no ground/consideration for an errant strategy in Montreal, whilst, on the other hand, are more than happy to allow Duran all the excuses in the world for his performance and quitting in New Orleans?

If so, that isn’t even handed, equitable treatment.

Theoretically, for even perfect even handedness, we could ignore all excuses/qualifications from either corner, leaving only the sheer complexions and outcomes of both fights to be getting on with.

Imo, such treatment would reasonably have Leonard, in overall net terms, proving himself to be the better man over the two fights.

However, by allowing no explanatory quarter for Ray in fight 1 whilst allowing Roberto every excuse under the sun for fight 2, it presents as having your cake and wanting to eat it too.

Occam’s Razor says that Floyd was simply great. A never ending list of excuses for every win on his extremely deep resume only proves the point.

    I’ve never disputed his greatness.

Only that he never fought a prime ATG, and that his various actions over the years makes me and others question whether he’d have fought Duran, even if given the opportunity.
