Even with careful managing, putting him against a past his prime 'name' in Dave Allen, Matchroom couldn't navigate Fisher to titles. Hopefully he can win the British title one day.
Hearn suddenly claiming Fisher is crap like he did with Benn. I’m 100% sure I watched Hearn talking up a fight between Fisher and Itauma before.
To be fair, it normally happens when he tries to engage his brain. Good to see he's dropping the kilos and keeping it off though.
Well, I saw him a few months apart and it was noticeable. But as you say, I don't think Men's Health will be knocking anytime soon.
Just looked at ticketmaster. Whole of the top tier closed, and about 66% of seats in the lower tier are unsold. This is a beyond stupid signing by Zuffa
There's far more to it than the gate on this occasion Tbh it'll probably be full nearer the time also
Fisher good luck to him getting a few quid with Zuffa he's a very limited fighter that sells a lot of tickets, one fight deal I believe. Talks honestly about his abilities when I've heard him but HW or not what always strikes me about these sort of guys even if you are English fringe British/Commonwealth level get yourself in good shape. Fisher has no excuses fighters above his level often have to have a job train before and after work and in way better condition.
He seems a really good guy I don’t get the hate. He’s no Ali but doesn’t pretend to be either. He can definitely win a British title, there’s guys worse than him that have fought for world titles.
Not knocking Bosh Jnr, but for the life of me I can’t think of any worse fighter, dead or alive, who boxed for a world title. I mean, even Holmes had to relinquish the title back in the day to fight Marvis Frazier, and Marvis was at least unbeaten and had beaten a few past title challengers, including Bugner and Broad. What am I missing here, who did you have in mind?
Hard not to like the guy tbh, if promoters pay him daft money then so be it, take it to the bank. I could do without the old man, "bosh" etc, but Johnny on his own seems like a decent guy. Hearn didn't really slaughter him either, just told the truth about his value. Hearn was slaughtering Conor Benn because he's the only bankable fighter he had left - could have been getting his slice of a big fight in the US now, or a stadium here. Matchroom's stable is as bad as it's been for years commercially.
