From the clips I saw of it Ward was completely ignoring the fact that the fight was at 168 even though Dawson brought that up.
Ward just kept repeating himself that he liked Chad and didn't want to fight him and felt bad about beating him. It was seriously cringe vomit inducing stuff.

I felt the same way, there was also some irony in how Ward mentions multiple times how Chad would fight anyone anywhere and how he respected that...

Dawson also seems to be pretty punchy likely CTE and it seemed like Ward was taking advantage of that in the interview just ignoring Dawson talking about the fight being at 168 and just over the top glazing him to make it seem like he beat a great fighter.

Ward is a fake nice guy from what I've heard lately. Any truth to that?

Dawson always has talked that way. I don’t think he sounds punchy. Having said that he has lost a lot of weight. Hope he’s well.

Ward is doing some serious grandstanding here. Dawson is responsible for his choices but at least acknowledge that it’s rare for a champion to drop down a weight class like that.

I watched this segment from Ward's podcast with Roy where Ward mentioned that he'd just done the Dawson interview and that it would be dropping soon.

He mentioned that he felt bad about what subsequently happened to Dawson after they fought each other because it basically ruined Dawson's career. He said he looked up to Dawson, that he respected Dawson who was a good family man and that he didn't to fight him and felt hurt when Dawson called him out (I don't believe that) at 175, 168 or a catchweight, so after Ward heard that he called James Prince and told him was willing to take the fight but that they were going to hold Dawson to everything he said, meaning he was going to drag him down to 168, a weight Dawson hadn't fought at in over six years, in order to ensure Dawson ''the good family man'' was as weak as possible

Dawson was amped up when he called Ward out because it was during his post-fight interview but when he was thinking straight he later tried to negotiate a catchweight of 170, just 2lbs above the SMW limit and 5lbs below the LHW limit, but Andre ''No Concessions'' Ward wanted no part of it even though that small concession would of enabled him to win Dawson's WBC LHW belt.

Why did he insists on 168? Because, as said, he wanted Dawson as weak as possible whilst simultaneously wanting full credit for beating a full strength Dawson and even later complaining about not receiving full credit

That was a Dawson who was getting beaten up throughout camp by 12-1 Lionell Thompson and dropped heavily and badly hurt/stopped by Edison Miranda a couple of weeks before the fight

Ward said this in May 2012 (he fought Dawson in August 2012)

"I am ready to fight the best 168- and 175-pounders that are out there," Ward told ESPN.com in a recent interview. "At this point, a big fight at 175 is interesting to me. I don't want to go up just to go up. But for the right fight, for a big fight, I would go up. I'm willing to fight anyone at '68 or '75."

    And again

'People ask me on the street or on Twitter when I'm coming back,' said Ward, who is expecting his fourth child with wife Tiffiney in mid-June. 'Well, I'm coming. I want Bute but I'm ready for any big fight at 168 or 175 pounds.'

    Hmm..

The reason Ward feels bad about what subsequently happened to Dawson's career is because he feels guilty about dragging him down to 168, a weight Dawson who has always been a softly spoken genuine good guy not a fake one like Ward hadn't fought at in over six years, in order to ensure Dawson was as weak as possible.

Ward has only ever knocked down 2 fighters at the world level, Barrera and Dawson. Sure, he fought a lot of durable guys but he couldn't even drop Allan Green who was far from durable but Dawson was going down in their fight from shots which weren't even concussive so for Ward to try and act like he beat Dawson in the fashion he did because he knew he had to be at his best to beat him is comical. A stiff breeze would've knocked Dawson over that night

Ward is one of the dirtiest fighters of all time and fouled his opponent's religiously, refused to fight on a level playing field, and expected everyone to play by a set of rules he never dared do whilst simultaneously masquerading as a devout Christian, having the audacity to lie through his teeth about being a dirty fighter when he was absolutely filthy, and even having the gall to cry about receiving a dose of his own medicine when opponent's fought dirty back

    Ward also ducked Adonis

After Adonis HL reel knocked out Dawson in a round thus becoming the WBC LHW champion he called Ward who was in attendance doing commentary for the fight for HBO

    --Adonis Stevenson

'Andre Ward is here. I want Andre Ward.''

    Ward's response

''Stevenson doesn't have the track record to warrant a title fight. He won't get a shot until he has won some big fights.''

Huh? Adonis had just won the WBC LHW title on a HL reel one punch KO over Dawson live on HBO

Adonis proposed a two-fight deal with Ward, the first fight at 168 in Oakland and then a rematch at 175 in Montreal and Ward wanted no part of him even though it Adonis offering to fight him in Oakland at 168 in the first fight would've been a big advantage for Ward

After Ward having previously said this

"I am ready to fight the best 168- and 175-pounders that are out there," Ward told ESPN.com in a recent interview. "At this point, a big fight at 175 is interesting to me. I don't want to go up just to go up. But for the right fight, for a big fight, I would go up. I'm willing to fight anyone at '68 or '75."

I always hated the who did he beat dodge, its often used to avoid the fight everyone wants

Ward did the same thing to Bute who was the only other title holder after the super 6 tournament and was undefeated. If you can't get excited for a marketable fight like that I don't know what there is? Carl Froch who turned his career around by taking that fight.

    Yeah me too

    Yeah, he also ducked Bute

Both Adonis and Bute were big punching southpaws with one shot KO power, especially Adonis, and Bute was a slick southpaw with power

Ward fought southpaw Dawson but in Oakland at a weight Dawson hadn't fought in over six years

It actually would've been a very significant fight if Ward had moved up to 175 to challenge him but Dawson was a walking corpse at 168

He fought Kessler, Froch and Kovalev but ducked Bute?!?! Surely you don't believe this.
