I think Kovalev deserved the nod first fight.

Even with Ward beating him a rematch 1-1 looks a lot better than 0-2.

Good post, I thought Kovalev got robbed but it was about as close as it gets for a robbery. 6-6 with a 10-8 round making the difference. I just don't think there was another round to give Ward and I know plenty on here gave Kovalev 7 rounds to make the gap wider. But I essentially agree in nature that Ward figured Kovalev out and dominated the second half of the fight. Kovalev looked incredibly uncomfortable down the stretch.

I know everyone wants to blame low blows but Ward forced Kovalev into a faster pace and Kovalev was already wilting at the mid point. Ward also rocked Kovalev with a big right hand I think it was only a matter of time.

Kotelnik is a good call, I remember the Khan fight, never seemed to get a shot after that

Legacy wise had Fighting Harada been given the decision against Famcechon the first time he would have been a 3-weight champion and also the only fighter to have won titles from Flyweight, Bantamweight, and Featherweight which would have benefitted him more.

Part of me was also thinking of mentioning Jeff Fenech receiving a "draw" against Azumah Nelson since he was wrongly denied of being a 4-weight champ and was never the same fighter afterwards. But I also think that they would have fought a rematch anyways and Nelson would have won the rematch regardless since he was great at making adjustments.

I believe that distinction should always be made between a decision one may not agree with - and a blatant robbery. Even Ward sort of acknowledged that the fight could've been scored differently, as He at one point called it "A close fight that went his way".

I just disagree with it being portreyed as a robbery. I really like this match-up and saw the fight many times. I always had Andre winning, just like the judges.

Julio Cesar Vasquez seemed understandably to lose all passion for the sport after getting robbed versus HBO-endorsed Whitaker, cutting short a great run as champion.

Fair enough. I don't know about robbery the word can be overused but I struggled to see a way Kovalev didn't win especially with a extra point from a knockdown.

He fought and knocked out George Kambosos a year after the Haney fight in 2024 and hasn't fought since. He's supposed to make a return to face Charly Suarez later this year.

I'm glad you said this I totally agree with you.

I think it's because alot of people dislike Ward for some of this tactics so they claim Kovalev was robbed but it was far from a robbery.

I think in fairness I did have Kovalev winning 114-113 but Ward comeback very strong in the 2nd half of the fight to make a good case for himself.

The 2nd fight I have to admit some punches definitely strayed low at the end.

But in reality Kovalev was done anyway Ward roughed him on the inside and was getting him to with body shots. He was finished regardless if a few punches strayed low at the very end.

Robin Reid wasn't robbed against Calzaghe even though he does have a case for winning a decision.

But he was definitely robbed vs Ottke.

That's two controversial decisions he lost to two Super Middleweight champions with the longest reigns.

Imagine had he got the nod in those fights.

Jesse Burnett was hard done by in alot of his decisions.

    Definitely robbed vs Conteh.

And apparently he deserved a win vs Galindez in their 1st fight.

I also felt Burnett beat L.Spinks in a close but clear decision aswell.

Being 2-0 vs Galindez, 1-0 vs Conteh, 1-0 vs L.Spinks would look alot more impressive on his resume.

That's got to be one of the biggest robbed rewards in history?
