Had this happened 10 years ago at MSG, it would have kicked started their fandom in the US. Now, it's pointless, they are both retiring soon after.

It'll still be fun for the existing fans of them.

Not to be a pedant but Fury didn't make a name for himself in the US till his 2nd Wilder bout in 2020.

Everyone and their knows dog 2020 Fury would destroy AJ brutally....so not much fandom to build....infact every version of Fury destroys AJ. The current version of Fury is the most vulnerable of the lot....

AJ & Wilder should have fought in 2018 and it would have been a monster bout but they flapped it...instead Fury stepped in and showed US fans that jesus was still real after resurrecting himself and the rest is history.

Then Hearn tried to break AJ in the US market the following summer and he got chinned by a little fat midget! LOL

I'd say he made his name with the 1st Wilder fight in 2018. The comeback from the last knockdown got a lot of attention. 2020 cemented it more and then he started having appearances with the WWE and UFC.

Either way a lot of American money was left on the floor by prime AJ/Wilder and AJ/Fury not happening.

I think you could perhaps have made an argument for holding this fight in the US 6 or 7 years ago. But it seems curious to do so now, when a UK bout would maximise the drawing potential of two faded stars. I'm not sure what a fight between them tells us at this stage, other than who has slightly more left in the tank as of 2026?

I like Friday night and it being on Netflix but the fight doesn’t belong in New York. As others have said this fight is 10 years too late.

...UNLESS I can get my hands on 10 tickets to MSG. I have someone working on that...

    Poor chin Vs poor power
    Good chin Vs good power

Both are so declined it says nothing about how it would've gone if it's happened when it should've done.

    Meh.

I'll watch it, but I wouldn't have cared all that much if it hadn't happened.

Joshua tried exactly that at MSG seven years ago in his big American unveiling with Dazn hoping that they could grab a share of the lucrative American market, that did not go well at all .

Some say better late than never but we ALL know this is about the vast amount of money they are making and the fight is not for the fans ! Fight should have happened years ago like everybody has already said but both the fighters and promoters always knew that this fight is massive and sells itself at anytime during there careers .

Ringside seats better be $25 and below. Neither of them deserves more than $500K apiece.

Considering your track record on picks being so wrong, you just sealed Fury's fate with a loss

While I had a chuckle, Fury has only lost two fights. So that's a fairly decent track record :D
