WK was dominant at HW until Fury spoiled the party.. Pac & Floyd were topping the P4P ratings.. GGG, Martinez & Canelo were carving out their legacies at MW.. we had multiple boxing super series won by fighters like Ward, Usyk, Inoue & Taylor.. Loma was prime, Chocolatito was prime, Rigo was prime, Crawford was prime, Beterbiev was prime.. numerous divisions such as CW, LHW & WW were absolutely stacked.. we had those crazy standout moments like Fury rising from the canvas in the 12th, JMM sparking Pac & the Joshua Klitschko war.. overall the era was a privilege to witness & in my opinion the 2020s have been poor by comparison. I feel fortunate that i was able to follow the sport during that period.

What were your favourite moments & are u too a bit disheartened with the sport right now?

Seriously though the 2010's were ****ing gold. Floyd had big fights vs Mosely and Maidana, Canelo, Cotto, Pac and McGregor. Pac lost to Horn. Horn had super fights with Michael Zerafa which only Aussies know about. There's so many great fights from this era. Pac losing to Bradley 1. The Emergence late on with Davis, Garcia and Haney. The list is endless.

Andy Ruiz saw glory and it's pure bias to not mention Wilder's career.

We have a bunch of old guys on here pining for the good old days? GTFOH boxing is still great tweek. I'm older than all of you combined. Some great boxers out there. Sure, some important matches are not getting made but there are good competitive bouts on nearly every werk.

This. When there's fights allover the world of course you're going to get great fights. We're talking the creme of the crop. The talent has dried up. As you said 7 years ago look at the guys we had fighting. And the peak they were in. Look at now. Joshua fought and lost to Ruiz 7 years ago. Then avenged it. It was game over for both of them then yet they're still fighting.

Never forget the boxing cold war, which resulted in Haymon gutting GBP and bringing lots of talent over to SHO; the network in return put on amazing triple and quadruple headers for several years.
HBO in return fished for fresh global talent, and its probably why we got guys like Golovkin on HBO.

At the time in the US, lots of networks signed with smaller promoters too, like Kathy Duva with NBC; this resulted in several contenders building up to title shots, and gave us Kovalev.

Back then I was pulling all nighters, spending up to 12h a day on live boxing. I was a big fan of so many guys! And also, the UFC was on a roll back then too, so that was a cherry on top.

The irony is throughout the 2010s people were talking about how boxing was dying and sucked compared to the old days lol.

Among my favorite moments from the 2010s was Martinez's knockout of Williams in 2010. The decade began with an explosive KO of the year, then Cotto took a great revenge on the shameful Margarito in 2011. In 2012, you mentioned Marquez's knockout of Pacquiao (KO of the year and fight of the year). It was definitely a great decade for boxing.

As for the 2020s, I have to say they definitely started badly. The COVID-19 pandemic was a tough time for the world, and boxing was also greatly affected. Then things returned to normal and, thanks in part to Turki Alanshick, we were able to see mega fights like Usyk-Fury (and rematch) and Bivol Beterbiev (and rematch). Inoue and Bam Rodriguez have done great things in recent years and it looks like they could face each other in 2027. I think Itauma will be able to name the heavyweights in the coming years and that Shakur Stevenson will have a career in which he will prove himself a master of the defensive art like Whitaker, Mayweather and Pep. There are currently very strong fighters in the super welterweight and super middleweight divisions, and these two divisions could provide us with interesting fights in the future. We also hope to see Benavidez-Opetaia in 2027, this year we already great fight had Inoue-Nakatani and Ennis-Zayas. So I'm optimistic for the near future and hope that the next few years of the decade will bring us more great events.

Thanks for this. A lot of big fights were also times I shared with my late brother - and this thread has brought some of those memories up.

Remember Danny Garcia vs. Lucas Matthyse?! What an under rated BANGER!
