Is Shakur Stevenson meant to be the new Mayweather?

No he's not. He never was meant to be. That's expectations that Shakur haters parroted because it would be impossible to live up to them. Shakur is extremely good, borderline great. Not HOF or ATG at this point he's got a very longggggg way to go. But he gives glimpses.

A generation is appx 15+ years. And there can be more than one generational fighter in a generation.

 

Many Shakur fans on Twitter and Reddit are already claiming he’s a future ATG and that he can school prime pacman. Sounds like they think he’s the next Floyd to me

One thing Floyd doesn’t get enough credit for, all of the money, all of the fame, I don’t think anyone would have stayed as dedicated to the art of boxing seeing that kind of wealth.

POS person but he absolutely loves the sport. Still the best I’ve seen inside a ring.

 

There are different kinds of love for the sport. I would say he loves to be the best and to have people see that. He also knows that it is the one thing he excels in the most by far and that it will forever define him for others. I think he lets it define himself a bit too much even, to the point where he might be a happier person if he didn't.

But I prefer the love of all the nameless coaches that spend all their free time and sometimes their own money carting their young boxers around the country and coaching them, sometimes giving live advice.

That's the true love for the sport.

 

King Floyd Mayweather will never be replicated ever again. Not in our life time. Shakur the blur Stevenson is a good fighter but nowhere near the level of The admirable Floyd Mayweather.
