Not the issue. Siki had no real experience at heavyweight and his style made to order for Dempsey. Post championship he fell apart. He was not a viable challenger for the heavyweight championship.

In contrast Carpentier was world famous, multiple title holder and he received accolades for his effort vs Jeanette.

So now the story changes. First, he was never a viable challenger. So I show you there were offers on the table, and now it becomes no experience...style made for Dempsey.

Whatever. I taught you something today. Learn it or don't learn it. It was a viable fight, and there were offers on the table.

Not really worth a separate post.

Siki was never a viable challenger for Dempsey's title.
"There were offers on the table?"
    Okay post them.
    From which promoter?
    For how much?
    When,the date of the offers?
    In which country?
    At which arena?

So, Carpentier being "world famous" (how much did Rickard amplify his fame?) and having a close fight against an aged Jeanette SEVEN YEARS earlier qualified for a title shot at the heavyweight crown. Great.

Wait a minute, this doesn't prove he wasn't right or was the ultimate source.

    POST SCRIPT:

I read Jack Dempsey's autobiography probably 40 years ago...you do know he said he was afraid of Langford?

I definitely agree with the Top 4. And have no strong dispute with 5 - 10.

    Ali
    Louis
    Holmes
    Wlad
    Marciano
    Lewis
    Holyfield
    Tyson
    Dempsey
    Foreman

I consider Dempsey the first modern champion, I now rate fighters in the division that preceded him into an old timer class among their peers.

There you go again. All that PED talk sounds like a disgruntled Tyson fan. You don't even know how that looks.. like an immature thing. Can't even talk about what happened in ring in '96. I expect you'll be bringing up headbutts next. C'mon.. Tyson fans.. don't be pussies. Really, now.. doesn't fit. He was supposed to be the baddest man on the planet.

And why don't you have Tyson in your top-10 heavyweight rankings, something like Ikrasevic alluded to?
