Heavyweight boxing is a weird place with wierd men You have to have a golden chin or special recovery powers or insane skill to survive.
Hrgovic's chin is the one thing that won this fight. Can't see too many others in the HW division taking that kind of an onslaught for 10 rounds and staying on their feet.
They hit with so much force at heavyweight that having an iron chin is a lot rarer to find than can be found at lower weights where the conditions for it to thrive are better. The violent impact from the blows up there naturally results in that attribute going almost extinct but you do see them occasionally. Hrgovic does seem to have an ATG manidible up there with McCall or Vitali for example. It's how he just shows zero expression after taking a hell of a bomb, that's quite frightening.
Experience lost Itauma that fight, Hrgovic's chin didn't win him it. If he spent 12 rounds fighting for a decision, like Usyk, then it would've been complete domination. Itauma simply went looking for a KO, instead of earning it. Inexperience cost him.
Hrgovic does have a cast iron chin. For now. If he keeps getting battered every time he fights (except when he fights the likes of Donut Eater Dave Allen) he won't have it much longer. Good ol' Joe Joyce was calling himself the Juggernaut because his chin was so great. Then he ran into Zhang and all of a sudden....
How so? Hrgovic couldn't do anything. Itauma burnt himself out, there was nothing Hrgovic did to impact that, besides survive. Hrgovic couldn't slow Itauma down, he couldn't trap him on the ropes, he couldn't do anything....If Itauma had simply reduced his output and stopped loading up with wild swings, it's as one sided a World Title fight as you see.
