as others have observed, it was him being too stubborn or naive to understand he likely was not going to move the immovable object from the ring if he hadn't done it throwing the kitchen sink at him for like twenty minutes. He continued attempting to and incorrectly assumed the punishment he was dealing out was depleting the other guy's will or ability to remove HIM from the ring when he started fading.

 

BTW it seems lately Naseem Hamed's been hitting the refrigerator a lot harder than he ever hit the heavy bag....

 

When Itauma comes back he wants to be nowhere near Ben Davison let alone in his corner giving advice ! The WHOLE boxing World knew that Hrgovic only had one way to win and that would be in the later rounds with Hrgovic drowning him ! Ben Davison clearly did not even train or advise Itauma of the only option Hrgovic had to win this fight ! Itauma may well come back stronger but on the flip side of that,some fighters are never the same after there first loss !

 

Naz has outgrown all his already XXXXL clothes. Only Arab robes fit him now.

 

Moses was dominating Hrgovic every round. Minor adjustment needed to pacing himself.

Hrgovic just has a 1 in a million chin.

 

There were studies done into brain damage of NFL players and signs of CTE in brain scans of those who died early and it showed that players involved in big collisions towards the end of the game when they were more exhausted had a far more devastating impact than head collisions early on in the game.

Itauma getting clobbered by Hrgovic after he gassed out and his brain was dehydrated could literally **** him up.

 

Yeah, he let Itauma punch himself out - and it paid off; he ran the risk of a British Stoppage at that point I must admit, he started firing back at just the right time.

 

Maybe but a 21yr old might succumb to the temptation. It's a immaturity in years and experience thing

 

He looks in a bad way there; if it was simple exhaustion then you would expect him to perk up a bit after a few minutes rest. Meanwhile Hrgovic was barely out of breath post fight, the man is truly built differently.

 

Moses could have been the second Mike with the right match making but the broadcasters cannot put on what they did with Mike back in the day. And also Davison in your corner....he has no fight plan. It's all about feints rah rah but no actual 12 round plan which Moses needed tonight

 

To Davison's credit, he has taken Itauma this far and I doubt he has been giving bad advice in all previous fights.

That said, I didn't hear GOOD and MEASURED advice in there (especially when Itauma was breathing heavy in the corner) and Itauma went back to the same game plan instead of pacing himself. Is Itauma a good student and listener or did he want to take matters into his own hands?

Or is Ben Davidson incapable of giving the right advice at the right time when the pressure is at maximum? I have no doubt he is a good trainer but that final element is missing.

 

I noticed Itauma's punches in the later rounds were not as hard and not hurting Hrgovic as much, judging from Hrgovic's reactions.

 

I thought Hrgovic won Round 3 personally, and had good success in Round 6 as well. Those two rounds also give insight into Itauma's fading stamina,

 

Good on Hrgovic. He still ain't nothing special, but he played this perfectly. Talked major amounts of trash to **** this kid off and guarantee he tried going for the kill early. Outlasted the onslaught, waited until this glass cannon blew his load, and then pounced. Easy work. First Croatian HW champ in history.
