Yeah we all know the stories, the claims, and the rest of it. I'm not going after Duran, I'm just pointing out how ludicrous the comments were TBF.

Yeah WB, bless him, just fixates on punchers and brawlers lol. If the boxer lands 55 punches and the puncher lands one big clean one it's the punchers round, bro lol. If it's 55 clean lighter punchers vs one huge punch that only partially connected, well we'll call that round even!

    Exactly hahahaha

If only Duran and his team had won the first fight and had the title to use as a position of power! They could have been the ones to dictate terms and dates and everything else!!!

    Oh...wait!!!!

Literally has an attitude that some of us don't know how to score fights or misunderstand boxing and then comes off with things like a real man would X or Y. Shows a complete misunderstanding of how boxing has operated for decades.

Based on that logic you can't respect Mike Tyson not waiting for x and y fighter to make it through rehab, deffo can't rate the Spinks fight then with his bad knees and whatnot and can't rate the Holmes fight, with his being flabby and ring-rusty.

I've never heard a serious fight fan claim to hate a fighter based on their fight style and not something like "They hit women" or "He's a convicted rap1st" or "He intentionally fouls and endangers the safety of his opponent or their long-term ability to seek a livelihood boxing".

It's not called the sweet science for no reason - hit and not get hit and there's no obligation on a fighter to stand toe to toe and get their brains bashed in. Floyd did plenty of that when he was PBF, standing in the pocket and trading, giving us fights like the spectacle that is Burton but look at the cost and imagine that multiplied across the whole career - hit by unnecessary shots against a lesser fighter. It makes for exciting fights for us, but also has an impact on long-term health.

Hagler didn't have to go look for Hearns, though.

No he didn’t but it remains that Hearns’ hand speed was on par with Leonard’s and Hagler certainly wasn’t looking for Ray in the opening 4 rounds as many expected and thought he should do, instead, he errantly attempted to outbox Ray during the opening rounds.

He was looking for Ray, but just couldn't find him. If anything a younger, prime Hagler was more tentative against Duran.

Don't know why we should expect Hagler to do a Frazier or a Tyson when he never did.

Leonard had started using cocaine during his inactivity so he abused his body more so than giving it a rest.

Leonard had 2 fights in 5 years and his last comeback fight prior to fighting Hagler he didn't look good.

I don't see how Leonard never fighting at Middleweight with a 3 year lay off and looking bad in his last fight 3 years ago.

Is an advantage to Hagler being a bit past his prime.

It's not like Hagler was shot his 2 previous wins over Hearns, Mugabi, are some of the best wins of his career.

Hagler's recent form was certainly better than Leonard's last fight against Kevin Howard.

Well if Hagler's greed accepting a bigger purse or Hagler's somewhat arrogance believing he'd win anyway is the reason he'd lost that's on him.

Objectively Hagler would still have an advantage fighting at his best weight with Leonard coming off a lay off and never fighting at Middleweight.

If you're saying Hagler was at more of disadvantage then why was he such a significant favourite at the time then ?

Obviously that wasn't the narrative during that time.

Its amazing though if that happened that he could go in there with Hagler with the confidence he showed.

No, he wasn’t looking for Ray in the opening rounds. He was indulging himself, fighting righty, trying to be cute in an attempt to show that he could outbox Ray.

He's on the front foot pursuing Leonard, who is constantly circling.

He pressures him, just not in a swarmer kind of way like Tyson or Frazier. But again, when did he ever do that?

He was only following Leonard around he wasn’t pressuring him.

When Leonard punched, Marv immediately went on guard, even taking backward steps.

When did Marv tear out and immediately throw?

    Watch the Hearns fight.

Marv immediately began with a badly intended right hook and went right after Tommy thereafter, walking through incoming heavy artillery.

Again, it’s obvious that, during the opening rounds against Leonard, Marv indulged in the folly of trying to prove that he could outbox Ray, and also tried to put on exclamation on that attempt by starting orthodox.

Hearns wasn't boxing Hagler, he was swinging with him. He did some pivots and made Hagler hit air a few times in the first, but he planted his feet with every shot trying to do damage. He bet everything on that Hagler couldn't walk through those punches but was wrong.

Leonard fought quite differently. Duran is a better comparison to how Leonard fought. Waiting for Hagler to make the first move. Against Duran a prime Hagler looked more hesitant in the early rounds if anything. What do you put that down to? Certainly not age and slowing down. right?

He looked uncharacteristically dejected by the end of the fight. Like the last few rounds. First time we ever saw it from him. But it showed it again in the Norris and Camacho fights.
