This isn’t a coincidence that all of his fighters are getting absolutely pieced up. Is anyone actually improving under this man? His way into boxing was being the guy who got Tyson fury to drop a load of weight, that was about 7/8 years ago now. It feels like Ben Davison and the towel discussions are becoming more frequent, in recent memory, that’s now 4 fighters in Anthony Joshua, Leigh Wood, Fabio Wardley, Moses Itauma, finding themselves in situations where Davison has had to throw in the towel or should have thrown in the towel. Could say Pat McCormack could easily have been saved right at the end with a towel too. This is very worrying that this corner team are frequently finding themselves in this kind of situation where they have to consider throwing in a towel. He came into boxing in 2018, not long after became a head coach full time and started to assemble his own team and stable. To have 4 of the bigger names he’s worked with have towel discussions has got to be a problem surely. He’s now had Junaid Bostan, Pat McCormack and Moses Itauma come to his gym as really highly touted fighters expected to go on and be great pros and he’s guided them all to their first defeat. If I was Barney Smith I’d be looking at this with some doubt over if this is the right team for him.
He hasnt improved anyone and consistently when talented established fighters come over to him they have looked worse. People refer to him as being a cheat code because of his analysis abilities but his corner work is awful.
You said he'd be suited as an assistant instead and I absolutely agree. He seems ok on a basic mechanical level but his corner work is atrocious and, as you said, the results speak for themselves. Keep him in the gym as a Mr motivator type. I said on the other thread:
Davison isn't as bad a trainer as people make out but for some reason he constantly seems to make critical mistakes in his corner work and training camps that help lead to his fighters defeat. It must be coming from arrogance, inexperience, outright stupidity or all of the above. I'm hearing that supposedly Itauma had never done 12 round sparring in the lead up to a 12 round fight against one of, if not THE most durable guys in the division. Just complete idiocy. Joshua and Wardley against Dubois seemed to have no real gameplan beyond just landing the right hand. Joshua couldn't do it and got smashed, Wardley could do it but after Dubois adjusted, Wardley and Davison seemed to have no plans B and he took a life shortening beating. Not every loss or bad performance is Davison's fault and he has helped guys improve in aspects, Leigh Wood was a major overachiever imo and that can be attributed in large part to Davison. But too often does he make these major and avoidable mistakes that contribute to his guys losing as badly as they do.
I don't blame Ben Davison for Fabio Wardley losing as I just think Daniel Dubois is better and it wasn't really the gameplanning that cost Wardley imo The others yes Davison was a big problem Outside of Josh Taylor I don't see how Ben Davison is a good trainer at all
He got lucky that a generational fighter in Fury took a chance on him in 2018 (which Fury almost paid for dearly, would’ve got brutally slept by Wilder if not for his freak recovery), and Boxercise Ben has scammed a career in boxing ever since

I still find the roll the dice advice to Joshua against Dubois absolutely diabolical, I remember Mcguigan in the round before Joshua got flattened attempting that stupid uppercut calling the guidance dangerous and he guaranteed it would see AJ walk straight into the short right hand.
I thought that was a disqualifyingly absurd piece of "advice". As in this was so egregious you're disqualified from being seen as anything other than a fraud. You're an ostensibly world class coach and you're so **** at your job that you can't even suggest how to get your championship level boxer-puncher to box without him getting knocked the **** out? Just basically saying "Yeah try to knock him out in a single punch I guess idk **** it M8 roll the dice I wanna go home". AJ's never one hit KO'd a single opponent in his entire life. The funny thing is as well AJ actually DID connect with a big punch after being told to roll the dice, but then he did it again immediately afterwards and got countered because yeah no **** he's not Deontay Wilder or Julian Jackson, he can't just spam knockout punches. It was just as stupid as Justis Huni's dumbass coach telling Huni to "prove himself" by knocking out Fabio Wardley. A fighter who's biggest weaknesses are his punching power and chin is dominating out of range against a fighter who's biggest strengths are his punching power and chin, yet despite being up 10 rounds to nothing you tell him to step into range , open himself up, throw caution to the wind and try for the knock out instead of coasting to a decision. ****ing morons.
