Wlad had the self awareness to completely dismantle his team and start from the ground up after being a world champion. He was willing to swallow his pride and find the best fit for him (Steward) and stick with it even after a disastrous start (Brewster) a somewhat disappointing performance (Williamson) then another tough fight (Peter) where he had to dig deep to win a fight many thought he had no chance in winning. Someone like Wlad is the extreme exception. Most these fighters have a bunch of yes men around them telling them what they want to hear etc. The chances of Moses winning 22 fights in a row is very slim. I’m not saying he can’t do it but it’s going to be very very hard to do and near impossible if no changes are made.

Agree. Lick the wounds, find a new team and ease back in against some durable Journeymen before having another run at it.

I cannot see why even if a fighter was overhyped, pushed along too soon, & out of aerobic condition should retire at 21.
He has a lt of talent, & no reason to believe he is more at risk of injury than most-if he was very slowed down & had taken mucho punishment for a whole career OK.

And how on earth can you claim to know he is psychologically damaged at all?
Fighters have come back from worse, & he has the true consolation that if he got in better shape he could have cruised to victory.
If he should retire, so should most top prospects.
So unless you think boxing is too dangerous & nobody should do it at all, critiques of Itauma & his psychology may be valid, but it does not remotely make a case for retirement!

Why would a rematch pan out any different?

Hrgovic has proved he can withstand Itauma's power and Itauma has proved he can't last 9 rounds, let alone 12.

The thing that many people dont quite get about the 'he was winning until he gassed' angle, not just in this fight but just historically speaking, is they dont account for the fact that the guy winning was fighting at an unsustainable level, and its not a given that they control the fight and win the rounds they did previously, when they have to adjust their style to a sustainable one.

If I race someone in a 2 mile race.... and I sprint as hard as I can for the first mile, and despite being way ahead I gas so badly I fall behind in mile 2 and lose the race, its nonsensical to brag about how I was winning when I was sprinting and my opponent was jogging at a pace fit for 2 miles. Because the reason I was ahead was because my opponent was pacing and I wasnt.

And then when we rematch, and I pace myself to be able to go 2 miles, I realize that my 2 mile pace is actually slower then my opponents 2 mile pace, and me beating them when I was sprinting was completely irrelevant.

Thats an extreme example but I do think theres some parallels to fights where one guy sprints a marathon while his opponent is jogging it, and the their fans brag about how much the sprinter was winning before they gassed.

Not sure if I explained that coherently lol.

Anyway, I would definitely like to see a rematch at some point if Moses can earn one. I do think with minor adjustments he can do better, Im just not sure if it's by a little or by a lot. Eye test says a lot but who knows, maybe if Moses drops a gear down for pacing, it gives Filip more chances to build momentum earlier.

Hope these two fight again in the next few years if Moses can earn it.

Because Moses is 21 and still has a lot of learning and growing to do. He has not reached full power/full man strength. It was also his FIRST TIME past round 6.

And what he is right now was too much for Hrgovic to handle for 8/9 rounds as it was one way traffic.

    That is why.

He'd be more likely to die than cruise to victory.

That will all take Itauma time. A rematch any time soon plays out the same way as the first fight.
