What was more insulting. Saying Itauma would beat Usyk or saying Itauma was the new Mike Tyson?

For me it was claiming he would beat Usyk.
Usyk has never lost a pro fight. He's one of the REAL greats.. No doubt, Usyk would've drowned him in the second half of the fight with his experience and A* ring IQ.

But what's also not in doubt, is that Itauma was and still is a massive talent. He'd have won the world title last night against most other heavyweight contenders. So comparing a really talented, young heavyweight who was blowing everyone away to a young Mike shouldn't have riled so many Tyson fans like it has. Tyson also had an early loss to a (much bigger) huge underdog, Tyson also had flaws and made mistakes in the ring like Itauma did last night, Tyson certainly was never this perfect, unbeatable boxer that they portray.

It’s an insult to Jake Paul to say Iguana was the new Mike Tyson.

Not a lot of people said he could be Usyk. And honestly beating Hrgovic and Usyk are completely different things. If Itauma can hurt Usyk it's irrelevant what happened with Hrgovic.

Bearing in mind Usyk is about 40 at this point it was the Mike Tyson comparison.

Tyson destroyed the division in 2 years.

Fought and beat James Tillis and Mitch Green 17 days apart at 19 years old.

Tyson battered a guy at 19 that had beaten Buster Douglas.

Tysons run and record will never be beaten. You might get a 21 year old that beats a Hrgovic type fighter for a belt the way boxing works nowadays. But no 20 year old will ever fight at the short intervals Tyson did and destroy the majority of the division while doing it.

Tysons run from 19 to 21 is probably the most incredible feat in all of boxing in terms of impressiveness.

Moses could have become the second youngest heavyweight champion last night granted...but it would have been a million miles away from the way Tyson done it as impressive as it would have been in fairness.

Exactly. I don’t see Usyk eating those bombs as well as Hrgsquatch.

Was just looking over Fergusons record the other day. He started in 1983. 16 years later he took Andrew Golota to points in 1999. He lost handily but just shows that era was actually a lot better than people realise imo. Also took Hasim Rahman to points the year earlier after a long hard career 13 years after fighting Tyson.

The rose coloured glasses claims made about Itauma here were funny reading at the time and are even funnier now after his loss to Hrgovic, who so many gave him no chance against.

Despite Itauma having beaten so little and gone so few rounds, those blinded by their rose coloured glasses thought it was just a matter of guessing which round Itauma would stop Hrgovic in.
