I think Hrgovic wins a decision, but what I would say is that prime Wilder certainly had better stamina than Itauma and was capable of going 12 rounds.

Close decision one way or the other...

Hrgovic would have plenty of early success, but then he'd slow and gas and Wilder would pick up most of the later rounds.

Wilder would be likely to land something big and flush, but short of cuts Hrgovic more likely than not sees the final bell.

Wilders much faster, which would make a difference, and he was durable enough for Hrgovic's limited power (even if his durability is generally overrated)... It'd be interesting, and close enough to have quite a wide swing of fan scoring, I think.

    Neither is really top top.

    Deontay KOs him.

Hrgovic reminds me of Joyce. People hyped him up to the moon ignoring the obvious flaws. I kept saying he was crap because your eyes don't lie, look beyond the result. And then someone managed to hurt him and he was finished.

You need to have some skill in boxing you can't rely on chin every time and get pieced up every fight.

Hrgovic is such a basic slow fighter. Prime Deontay will land on him often. Wilder is **** but he's competent enough to avoid most of Hrgovic punches based on just being a better athlete. Hrgovic isn't KOing Deontay. Not in a million years.

Equally, you can't rely entirely on power...

Rely on power alone and the moment you meet someone with too good a chin and you lose (Itauma, arguably - you could say same for Zhang, too).

Rely on chin and the moment you meet someone with enough power, you're cooked.

And Wilder wasn't a great points boxer, either... I think it'd be close on cards, and I suspect it'd go there - Wilders great power might well bounce off Hrgovics great chin, and Hrgovic's mediocre power might well bounce off Wilders mediocre chin.

Worth mentioning he was sparring prime Wilder as well as an old but still very hard hitting Haye.

Hrgovic slips and rolls with punches a lot more than Joyce does. Someone managed to headbutt him badly and get the fight stopped on cuts. Wilder was stopped twice by Fury who isn't the biggest puncher. To say Hrgovic doesn't have any chance of KOing him is completely ridiculous. You're attacking Hrgovic for his "obvious flaws" when he is a much more complete fighter than Wilder ever was. Wilder literally just has a right hand. a very good and powerful one but he is the textbook definition of a 1 trick pony.

Recency bias is crazy. You guys are sheep. Wilder is much faster than the relatively stationary Hrgovic who is willing to block with his face.

Chin defense isn’t a great strat vs Wilder.

Zhang was a big puncher, but different than Wilder, who is faster, has awkward angles, and still punches hard late into a fight.

What recency bias? What sheep? Wilder's myth was an annoying story of a B-class king pretending to be a legit champion among the top contenders. Fabio Wardley arguably is a more dangerous Wilder and he's proved against Parker who already boxed Wilder blind.

Hrgovic always was granite. Was taking shots from the likes of Zhang, Dubois, Adeleye, and now Itauma, and he was only ever stopped on cuts. His career was disappointing as he was praised by Klitschko to be the next champion, had the sparring footage of bashing Wilder, and was an Olympian to boot. Still, he always had redeeming qualities on his side. Enough of them to always pick him against the dosser.
