Itauma - what now? All that hype for what?

Itauma has great talent and if he is not mentally devastated by the loss, he will be a heavyweight champion someday.

Let's not forget Wladimir Klitschko's very similar loss to Ross Puritty - Wlad had never been past 6 rounds, and was knocking everybody out early, then he ran into 6'5" 250 pounds of muscle who just wouldn't go down. Wlad dominated every round, then gassed out in the 11th.

Let's not forget Joe Louis lost to Max Schmeling, then returned and became an ATG heavyweight.

As long as Itauma has the mental fortitude, he will be a successful heavyweight because of his exceptional physical ability.

 

Don you think he is already there? I mean he dominated Hrgovic yesterday it was not even remotely competitive.

 

that’s was my point. He was trying to fight like he was an explosive welter or super welter.

 

There have been so many examples of one fighter looking great until they gas out. That is part of the sport.

Minor improvement needed for stamina?!?! He was so out of breath that he had to be sent to hospital.

Ring IQ? Unless you’re mistaking it for actual skills, his ring IQ was quite frankly shocking. Kept trying to force a stoppage, absolutely no plan B, no idea when to pace himself, ignoring his corner, fighting Hrgovic’s fight especially when he realised he couldn’t put a dent on him - the list goes on.

Chin? Its a grey area right now - but to me it seems Itauma has a similar type of chin to Anthony Joshua. One - he got knocked out basically, everytime Itauma gets hit - its like he crumbles a bit under pressure and really hates getting hit.

 

As the rounds went by you could see Itauma getting weaker and weaker. Geez he started sucking air after the 5th round., also I didn't think he physically looked all that fit either . You can't give Hrgovic much credit for this ,he lost every round and won because his opponent wasn't ready for a real heavyweight contest. The dregs of the division will be beating down the door to get at him and as for Itauma? I'd seriously look at a new trainer, a good trainer would know he wasn't in fighting condition.

 

Destroyed by who? He stumbled around the ring out of exhaustion and Hrgovic missed the target. several times.

You're conveniently spinning facts and truths. In fact, you're the only one in the room recollecting it differently and whose opinion really does not matter.

Opinions that do matter: "I lost every round badly" - Hrgovic

And the opinions of the judges who scored most/all rounds to Moses.

Get an eye test, or stop watching boxing through the radio.

And stop being salty. Moses dominated. Moses was dominating:

Hrgovic said he's the best fighter he's ever been in the ring with...

So that counts for a lot. Think of all the guys he's sparred. He just needs to lower his workrate and slow down his pacing.

 

Dude looked pretty good to me. He's built like a bull - physically strong, hard puncher, fast hands, southpaw.

Not surprising he gassed out. He'd never been past 6 rounds before. Until you get those rounds under your belt in a real fight, it's difficult to know how to pace yourself. Thought he avoided taking a beating. He just ran out of juice which plenty have done before him in the same situation. Anthony Mundine comes to mind against Sven Ottke. His chin didn't let him down that night. He was only an 8-round guy going in & ran out of juice. Same with Itauma.

Don't think it's going to be much fun facing Itauma once he has the experience & conditioning to go 12.

Great win by Hrgovic but I think Moses parts this division real soon.

 

It amazes me that anyone can think Itauma was controlling that fight anytime after the third round. People need to watch the fight again with the commentary switched off. Hyrgovic knew exactly what he was doing and was just letting Itauma unravel. Jesus, Hrgovic said before the fight exactly how he would win and then went in there and did exactly that. He was making Itauma miss a lot throughout the fight, which contributed to him tiring himself out and was landing nasty shots which Itauma clearly wasn't enjoying. Yes, Itauma needs to do a lot of work on himself, but Hrgovic bossed the **** out of him. Anyone who still thinks otherwise needs to watch it again without bias.
