Itauma vs Riakporhe a perfect comeback fight ?

Riakporhe is a bit risky, he's durable and has stamina. Itauma might gas in a late round.

A journeyman like Dacres would be better for a confidence-building fight. Itauma-Jolly would be okay. Or if they want a really soft opponent, he could fight Kash Ali.

 

It’s a good test but no guarantee he wins. So maybe not present it like a forgone conclusion.

 

Big Bang Zhang is the only answer for a comeback fight. It would silence some of the doubters.

 

I can see some angle to that making sense given that big bang has no stamina, but he is extremely powerful and the likelihood of a proper derailment is significant.

 

Now we've seen one of these big prime heavyweights take his best, he's gonna have to go back to the drawing board. I think the Parker fight makes sense for both right now

 

Riakpore is a massive puncher that has the athleticism to catch Itauma, itauma needs to fight Guido or the winner of Miller/Gassiev

I don't know what his team was thinking with Hrgovic, maybe Warren was so over confident because Dubois beat him

 

How on Earth does fighting Parker make any sense right now?

 

Parker is still Top 15. Is Moses gonna have the draw, unless he fights someone in that number? He just had a PPV fight for the word title

 

Parker is also known for taking most of his opponents the distance and has enough experience to give Itauma some real problems. Both fighters would also need a tune up I'd reckon.

So I think OPs suggestion is perfect. Itauma needs to get the rounds in without the pressure for now.

It's interesting hearing his name come up as a possible opponent. After Itauma's loss, I was thinking about Riakphore's fight with TKV and remembered how impressed I was with his energy management that night, he carries a fair amount of muscle and likes to throw fast combinations, but I remember he wouldn't get greedy and would save something for the next round. It only went 5 rounds I know, but I just thought he seems to know exactly what pace he should be fighting at, a skill Itauma seriously needs to learn.

 

Im thinking that many on this forum probably think Itauma’s next fight should be a rematch with Hrg, or someone more like DuBois, Kabayel, or Wardley, and that he’d have a great chance of beating them… or at least they sure act like it!


…and if they don’t think so, they better stop getting their panties in a twist every time we say he isn’t a top level fighter yet.
