Dave Allen retires

Not seen much of Carty but his level of opposition is poor. Is Allen likely to win this one?

Like all Allen fights if it goes the distance then Carty wins easily as Dave throws 3 punches a round.

But I’d expect Dave to stop Carty. Possibly early.

 

Dave has come in like a fat slob for this fight. Weighed 20 stone. The guy is a joke.

Hope Allen gets flattened. Taking someone’s opportunity who would actually try.

He looks in better shape than Allen. Allen looks fat with a t-shirt on. Not saying Carty wins btw, just that he is not as fat.

 

Think he's just readying himself for the inevitable switch to full-time influencer – loses, runs out of lives with Matchroom, Zuffa doesn't come through with an extravagant offer. Can eat what he wants then

 

The thing that bugs me about this fight is the comparison with the headliner. Taylor has sold out an arena where she wasn't the main event and got grossly underpaid for it. You can bet Allen (and most of the undercard) are filler, nobody's turning up to see them but they're getting paid to pad out the TV show.

Sometimes for events like this, I wonder why the promoter bothers with undercards at all. Fair enough if it's to give up-and-comers some TV exposure (Joshua on the Froch-Groves Wembley card etc) or if Taylor herself wants to give some room to fighters she appreciates - but Allen-Carty? What?
