Hrgovic is better than Itauma and deserved to win. Give him his credit

You've not updated your eye prescription in a long time it seems, but that's okay we got you covered. The boxing experts disagree with just about everything you said regarding the Moses fight.

Hrgovic got lucky. By his own admission as well. He was getting pummelled, dominated, man handled, destroyed. He was HOPING that MAYBE he could take Moses out later.

But for most of the fight it was one way traffic, and the highway was called the Moses One Way system.

    Itauma got obliterated. Emasculated.

Sanchez and Hrgovic set a trap and Itauma walked right into it. Just like Foreman.

    Classic stuff.

Itauma has plenty of ability and should still have a great career. But no one will ever forget the night The New Tyson got demolished on his home turf

He won fair and square with a sound strategy and a classic story played out which we've seen in the sport countless times. He was the better fighter over a 12 round fight, they have different qualities and levels of experience which created a great match up.

I like your posts too mate. I know you're not being argumentive. Just simply stating your opinion. But I disagree. He got hit with 28 shots that round. One more bomb to the head he would have been planted flat. Even if he wasn't as you say. He still gassed. Hrgovic made him gas. He was on him like a fly on **** in the 9th. Either way you look at it Hrgovic did a number on him. He couldn't even stand up at the end. Before it he was eating punch after punch stumbling around the ring. The ref stepped in. The towell was thrown. He didn't even need to take one more bomb and he was slouching over in the corner, unable to stand. Getting stretchered out says it all. Punches or not, he couldn't sustain even 9 completed rounds.

It was an obliteration. In the end. It's not how you start. It's how you finish.

Yes Hrgovic's experience, pacing, granite chin and improved stamina were his main attributes to get the win last saturday. Great job.

Yew, Hrgovic is a solid HW boxer, but he has struggled with a who's who of names from Zhang to Dubois.

A good fight might be Hrgovic against one of the vaunted duo of Fury and AJ.

That's not quite the case though.

Even though Itauma was ahead on points you could see he wasn't comfortable in the fight after the 4th round.

Itauma was noticeably distressed and getting more and more tired as the fight wore on.

Hrgovic wasn't lucky ? He probably knew he would be behind on points in the 1st half of the fight. So his gameplan was to drag the more inexperienced fighter into deep waters and drown him which is what happened.

These so called boxing experts which you keep quoting all had Itauma who is a relative novice in the professional ranks. Easily stopping Hrgovic who has never been stopped as an amateur or pro and his gulf in experience is light years ahead of Itauma.

That don't sound like an expert analysis to me.

And of course they want to save face for not giving Hrgovic the respect he deserved as a dangerous opponent prior to the fight.

Thanks. I'm delighted for Hrgovic to finally achieve his dream against the odds and having had to everything the hard way, the much harder way. Of course if he had the backing, opportunities and the deck stacked in his favour like others less deserving have he would've done so long ago and achieved so much more.

Yes. Mike was one of the most famous people on the planet back then and most popular sportsmen, a three-belt unified king, with 9 world title defences under his belt. Moses was merely a contender who didn't even deserve a world title shot.

    Prophetic indeed by Holmes

Chin is such a vital part of Boxing. It’s no coincidence there is no such thing as a Glass Jawed Warrior. They don’t exist.

David Haye said Moses has a good chin.

Here Moses is exhausted, and took some big shots from Hrgo but still hanging in there and throwing some back.

Abel Sanchez says Moses went down from exhaustion not a punch.

He was one punch away from having his lights shut out. Ref stopped it. Corner threw in the towell.

    Lucky for him.

HA! Your just tunnelling along completely ignoring all the times folks have called u to task. Your narrative that you keep clinging to is a real stretch, let me correct things for you AGAIN:-

    • Hrgovic did get pummelled & dominated in rounds 1,2 and to a lesser extent 4, Moses fast start and twitchy speed is why no fighter to date has taken him past 6 until Hrgo.
    • In round 3, the punch stats were very similar, Hrgo had success with his jab and Moses looked uncomfortable for the first time when Hrgo pressed him, signs of blowing and panic were already there, backed up by Sanchez obsevations in the corner and MANY of us in the RBR. Abel kept saying to Hrgo in the corner that the plan was working and the signs were there of gassing even this early...
    • Itauma did rally well in Round 4, the break obviously managed to get is tank replenished a bit, and he still looked fast and Hrgo was having less success than in round 3...
    • Round 5 which I and many others scored to Hrgovic showed Moses really starting to grimace at points, get ragged and over balance with wild misses as Hrgo started to react better to his speed, timing distance, riding shots and never letting him rest. From this point Hrgo would work hard the last minute of each round putting it on Moses, risking shots to give shots and grind that tank down
    • Rounds 6 & 7 I felt were ebb n flow affairs, with Itauma having the more cleaner shots in the main, but with decreasing frequency and far less visible effect on Hrgo. These were both close rounds scoring wise IMO, but 5-7 the shift in the fight was there to see if you knew what you were looking for and not riding Iatuam blindly. Many folks in the RBR saying that Moses has gassing, Hrgo would drown him like Carl Thomson vs Haye, Mercer v Morrison etc etc. This was NOT Hrgo being pummelled, dominated and manhandled at this point; if you believe that then YDKSAB!
    • Round 8 Moses I think realised he was drowning bad, and to give him big credit and heart, he went for one last big KO push, which emptied his tank, and then allowed Filip to turn it round and nail the exhausted kid with 3 sneaky and vicious body shots that Moses visibly suffered from.
    • Round 9 - Hrgo well up before the bell, Moses looking like a drunkard, the end in sight! Credit to Itauma for his heart (if not any intelligence or support from his corner!) he tried to stay on his fight and fight back as best he could, and even managed to tag Filip a couple of times, but all power was gone and Hrgo put on him with more body shots and a couple of real solid head shots before the towel went in and it was waved off.

A fight is fought over 12 rounds, and this was NOT a 'flick a switch' sudden change; it was more death by a 1000 cuts for Moses, and it was a gradual capitulation caused by a mixture of his own inexperience, prep, nerves/anxiety and the immovable object in front of him that not only exhibited great mental toughness, chin and conditioning, but excellent ring generalship and shot selection at EXCATLY the right moments he needed to exacerbate all those flaws further as the fight went on.
