    Some good points here!

However, maybe you will concede that:-

    • Hrgovic came in the best shape of his career and under 240 for the first time I can recall
    • He was lazer-focussed at all points and never showed any of his old tendencies to switch off / zone out / turn his back or look disinterested
    • His offense was much better, and he was not doing the arm punch thing anywhere near as much, with better shot selection, a I think more effective power than before.
    • All the above seems to underpin what both Hrgo and Sanchez have said about his camp and the contrast to how he was aftyer his father died etc etc
So it's possible that this is the best Hrgovic we have ever seen moving forward, and basing future fights on his showings against Zhang, Dubois etc may be flawed.

Well said. His fan boys can't accept this. Coming into a give Hrgovic credit thread and still trying to take it away from him and derail it.

They need to accept their guy got bashed.

He didn't get bashed though. Abel said he gassed out. Haye said he gasses out and beat himself.

I concur. You need to accept the conclusion of boxing experts and stop trying to act like you know better when you don't have a profile on Boxrec.

Seems like you watched a different fight to me, Hrgovic, Abel Sanchez and David Haye. If you take me out of the equation, as I am just a boxing fan... the experts disagree with you.

But if you put me back in as a human being with eyes and a 65 inch LG C4 OLED TV watching the fight, I can see clearly that Hrgovic was missing wildly with his punches. Those last few he threw before the ref stopped it look RIDICULOUS and AMATEURISH... those innacurrate clubbing Dillian Whyte style shots and then pushing Itaumas head through the ropes... why are you giving that credit???

How is that "shot selection"? And how is getting dominated for the majority of the fight classed as having good "ring generalship"?

Are you blind? What is the matter with you??

Why can't you accept that Hrgovic said he lost most rounds, was outclassed and outboxed??? so why are you taking away from Itauma's contribution and assigning it to Hrgovic who just said "Thats not me"?

Itauma GASSED. Plain and simple. You are overcomplicating an extremely simple conclusion accepted by pretty much everybody that is a somebody in the boxing world and fabricating your own weird analysis "Itauma got bashed, Hrgoric landed killed blows at the end."

Err no. Didn't happen. Hrgovic got tagged cleanly as Itauma was on his way out from being gassed. Went down like a warrior.

The issue is clearly that Hrgovic has already been given plenty credit, but the Itauma haters and boxing wannabe fans, can't give Itauma credit for being 21 and outboxing the eff out of Hrgovic... a top 5 fighter, prior and now champion.

Itauma haters acting like "oHhHhH I can see things in the fight done by Hrgovic thats so intelligent... 5D chess... setting up Itauma"

"AnD iF yOu cAnT see it you DKSAB"

Errr okay... can David Haye see these things as well? An accomplished professional boxing champion... who lived and breathed and lived it some more. Is he blind? Can you guys here see boxing better than David Haye???

So why isn't he bashing Itauma the way you vuys are but instead giving him HIGH PRAISES. Everything Itauma did was "10/10"

LOL Jesus. The audacity of posters here.

Sanchez and Hrgo were being gracious to Itauma, Filip showed a tone of class in his post-fight interview, but I am not for a minute believing that those two weren't perfectly aware the fight was shifting gradually in their favour 5-9.

Anyways, 'don't stop believing', it's quite amusing to see how crazily folks cling to a narrative.

And Haye? always shapes things in his own image, he's such a narcisccist - he frames what Itauma did in the terms of his loss to Carl Thomson, check the interviews, it's less about Itauma and more about 'I made the mistakes but came again to be World Champ, me , me, me. What Haye says on anything don't really amount to more than a hill of beans!

I don't think an 'appeal to authority' holds much weight in this instance, but I can at aleast counter yours with some others:-
Tony Bellew praised Hrgovic 'veteran pacing' and ring IQ and noted the turnaround was gradual.
Steve Bunce noted the gradual nature of the turnaround praising Hrgo, as did Shakur Stevenson.

Fight Disciples podcast also noted that Hrgo's execution of the 'soke-a-dope' wasn't just Moses gassing but a continued increase in applied pressure to maximize the startegy's effectiveness.

A Guy Called Henry also has a decent breakdown on the fight and echoes a lot what myself and others have said on this

check at 8.15, commending Hrgo for being present, pushing Moses to work from the 3rd round on and increasing the mental pressure, and more throughout

Not going to waste any more effort on what is obviously an echo chamber, I'm more than aware of how many folks on this forum in the RBR was seeing it similarly to me.

Moses gassed out because of Hrgovic

Because Hrgovic told him beforehand that he was going to drag him into deep waters and drown him

That his best shots would have no effect

That it's not about how much you can give it's how about much you can take

The mental anxiety of seeing Hrgovic eat all his best shots like The Terminator would've depleted his gas tank as it was but Hrgovic doing so after telling him beforehand that's exactly what was going to happen would've depleted it even more

Countless fights are won and lost because one of the combatants had more in their gas tank than the other and because one of them could take what the other could dish out better and those are as valid means of victory as any.

Hrgovic had plenty of success of his own from round 3 onward and even in some of the rounds he lost from that point on he was very competitive and was landing good shots of his own which all contributed to depleting Moses' energy reserves and he was making him work when he tried to take breaks and keeping it long and making him miss or fall short more than we're being lead to believe.

It was not a one-sided 8 round domination where Moses won every round, every second of every round with Hrgovic doing nothing and having no success and then Moses suddenly gassed and got stopped.

Imagine still believing that after watching this?

Imagine being so invested in Moses and so butthurt about the loss that you cannot give Hrgovic any credit whatsoever and there are countless fans and members of the British propaganda media/social media machine who aren't or are only doing so very reluctantly despite the fact none of them gave Hrgovic a chance to win and the vast majority didn't even give him a chance to even make it out or rounds 1-3

Hrgovic was a massive underdog who had everything heavily stacked against him in Moses' backyard on his coronation night and unlike silver spoon Moses who only had to wait 3.5 year for his title shot in his own backyard despite having done nothing to deserve that shot vs 9 years for Olympic medalist and European champion Hrgovic in his opponent's backyard, Hrgovic has had to do everything the hard way and he had to walk through fire to get that win.

If Moses did less to conserve his energy, Hrgovic does more offensively and throws and lands more

Desperation had set in and the realization that his worst nightmare was coming true dawned on Moses and that no matter how hard or often he hit the boogeyman the boogeyman was still there and he took a gamble on trying to put his foot on the gas and getting him out of there after believing the boogeyman was ready for the taking and it backfired and then the boogeyman capitalized on it and his plan to tire him out and Moses folded and could not take what he could dish out.

Some feel Moses quit after the heat got to hot for him and being carried out on a stretcher was a theatrical performance from him. I won't go that far but one thing I do know for sure is Hrgovic won the fight Moses didn't lose it and he won it fair and square on a deck heavily stacked against him and II guarantee you Moses' chin wouldn't have been able to withstand a fraction of what Hrgovic's did that night.

Penalizing Hrgovic for having an iron chin, a huge heart and dragging Moses into deep waters and drowning him just like he said he would

Again, even though I like Moses and rate him highly the Hrgovic disrespect both before and even more so after the fight has been utterly despicable and the British media/social media propaganda machine just like many of them did after Usyk beat AJ, Belly and Dubois has been in full overdrive with the excuses narratives. I hope Moses never gets a rematch even if he subsequently does enough to deserve one just like we know Hrgovic would never have been given one in a million years if the roles were reversed

If the roles had been reversed or that had been AJ, Belly or Dubois playing the role of Hrgovic the narrative being pushed heavily by said machine would've been what an incredible display or toughness, heart, will and determination, overcoming adversity and never giving in by them

Hrgovic lost to Dubois due to running out of energy and corruption but not a single peep about of any of that from the machine

This thing is Serge you can be winning most of the rounds but they can still be competitive rounds.

Most of the rounds after the 4th round I felt were competitive.

Yes Itauma was still winning the rounds but you could see he was uncomfortable in there and noticeably getting more and more tired.

I was rooting for Itauma but even I commented after the 4th round. I was starting to get nervous because you could see physically Itauma was weakening round after round.

I don't get why people don't understand it Serge and I wanted Itauma to win so no bias from me.

Hrgovic's plan was always to get his more inexperienced opponent into the 2nd half of the fight I think that's quite obvious.

That's why I always wanted Hrgovic as an opponent for Itauma. Because he had the durability and experience to extend Itauma into later rounds.

I wanted to see if Itauma was ready and could pass the test but obviously he wasn't quite ready to step up yet.

    This.

I'll add that boxing usually doesn't give a lot of credit to those who won the vast majority of rounds and then lost.

Moorer was way up against Foreman. Lost.

Taylor was way up against Chavez. Lost.

Walcott was way up on Marciano. Lost.

No one really gives Nascar drivers praise for being the lead car for ninety percent of the race then losing, they get told off for not understanding pacing.

I get your point, but none of them lost the way Itauma did. Moorer got caught by an absolute peach of a shot, so did Walcott, Taylor was the victim of an egregious stoppage with 2 seconds left in the fight, they didn't collapse into their corner without any visible shot landing like Moses did.

In recent memory, I'd say Huni gets a lot of credit for winning every round vs Wardley before getting caught. I get that people who were sick of the Itauma hype and are happy to bask in their contrarian ways and ragebait people, but it's odd that people are pretending Itauma is not a good boxer because of a stamina issue. Wlad had the same issues, as well as chin issues, in multiple fights, and went on to become a HOF fighter.

    Fair.

I'll add that Atlas was telling Moorer for a few rounds that Foreman was setting him up. Moorer didn't listen, so while it was a peach of a shot, there was technique behind it most people didn't see, similar to Hrgovics strategy of drowning Moses late.

It became very competitive from round 3 onward and it was a different fight from there on and it's bizarre how people are ignoring Hrgovic's work in those rounds or many of them in order to keep pushing this narrative that it was a one-sided domination with Moses dominating every round before suddenly running out of gas in round 8.

It's also bizarre how they can't understand how anxiety becomes mental fatigue, and mental fatigue become physical fatigue and Moses seeing Hrgovic eating all his best shots again and again like The Terminator would've contributed to depleting Moses' gas tank and even more so given how Hrgovic had already planted those seeds of doubt in his mind long before they began to sprout during the fight.

Moses was loading up on his shots cracking Hrgovic flush repeatedly with full power bombs and Hrgovic wasn't going anywhere. Moses would've been thinking to himself this guy is made out of iron wtf do I have to hit him with to get him to go and how the hell is he still standing? That's disheartening and as he become more fatigued panic and desperation would've started to set in.

Hence why he felt the need to unleash that assault on Hrgovic in round 8 after thinking he had him going, because desperation and panic had set in. But it backfired big time and Hrgovic turned the heat right up on him after he did so and Moses folded

Moses was staring to blow after round 3, tellingly a round where Hrgovic had a lot of success himself and had established a foothold in the fight, and as you say it was plain to see he was weakening with each passing round. He looked uncomfortable whenever Hrgovic caught him clean

I think he was ready to step up and would've beaten the vast majority of HWs with that performance but Hrgovic is made out of iron and even though Hrgovic is a very favourable stylistic match up for him to make him look good he's also going to struggle with him in the 2nd half of the fight

Yes and you can make the argument that any fighter who gets caught and knocked out or stopped after dominating or winning the fight made a mistake. Moses made a mistake by going to all that effort trying to get Hrgovic out of there in round 8. It would've worked vs thee vast majority of HWs but Hrgovic is built different and it backfired and he punished Moses severely for it.

But the reason Moses decided to take that gamble is because desperation had set in. Even if he hadn't done so he was still gonna get drowned in the championship rounds.
