well? 1990-99 In no order: Heavyweight: prime Lewis (96-99), prime Holyfield (1990-93), near prime/prime Tyson (90-92), Bowe, Mercer, Morrison, Tua and Ibeabuchi towards the end of the decade, old Foreman, Moorer, older versions of Witherspoon and Tucker, Briggs, McCall, Golota, Damiani Super middle: at various points, RJJ, Toney, McClellan, Benn, Calzaghe, Eubank, forgetting a few Middle: RJJ, Hopkins, Nunn, Toney, Tiberi, What division would you say was the deepest in the 1990-99 era?
WW. LHW distant second. MW everyone was coming and going. And it tended to be going. That 1991 and 1992 top 10 is wonderful but it didn't stay together long.
Welter at one point had Quartey, Oscar, Tito, Whitaker, Jose Luis Lopez. 4 of the Ring's top 10 lb for lb I think (not sure about Ike there).
Agreed. WW was suoer loaded. I'll add to the group you mentioned with Oba Carr, Cristano España, Simon Brown, Maurice Blocker, and Buddy McGirt. I think the later part of the decade was better with Oscar, Tito and Ike but the early 90's guys were pretty damn good as well. Heavyweight was also stacked and deep throughout the decade. I'll take the 90's boxing over any decade in my lifetime. Th le 80's were fun as well with the fab four and prime Tyson but the 90's was a deep and competitive decade of great fights.
Agree. McClellan, Julian Jackson, Lamar Parks, McCallum, Reggie Johnson. The first half of the decade, the top ten were all potential champions. The second half, except B-Hop, was average.
