Garcia vs Benn odds

On paper this is a mismatch , Garcia has a strong amateur background Vs a guy who started boxing late I think 16 or 18 not too sure but Garcia should handle even a game Ben with ease.

Let's be totally honest Ben only got this far because of his surname not boxing merits.

If Garcia is dalied in , which looks like he is .. he looks fast and sharp on the pads , his handspeed is up there with the fastest in boxing right now .. Ben won't even see some of these coming , Garcia has the chance to really embarrass Ben here.

Also Ben coming down to 147 he won't be even at his own best , can't wait for this fight lol

Standing by my guns if you read the thread – Conor's totally out of his depth and will either be taken out as and when Garcia wants to, or he takes a beating along the way, plus the weight cut will leave him totally diminished. I think he takes Garcia out, or just outworks him, provided he made the weight okay, which [Sims] seems to imply he has.

Garcia, for his assets and elite-level skills and speed, has world-class issues too, especially outside the ring, and leaves his chin there to be pinged, as Rolly, Davis, and Luke Campbell highlighted.

Thus, cue Garcia KO inside three rounds, similar to Haye, Audley.

 

Just hope Garcia’s heads in it. I’m not reading too much into his most recent win over Barrios. He was coming off a draw with a 47 year old Pacquiao who hadn’t fought in 6 years and a loss to Ramos. Before that Garcia looked poor against Rolly.

I’d like to think Garcia wins but I can just see a horrible situation where he turns up not bothered and basically hands Benn a win.

From the off, I’ll be honest and say I really don’t rate Benn. Technically, I think he’s really poor. He’s hittable, you can out-jab him, he throws winging shots from bad angles, loads up on his punches, etc. His power is questionable, especially if you consider the complete drop-off since the failed tests. What I would say is that he’s athletic and generally looks well conditioned.

Garcia has bundles of talent and knockout power but has obviously been inconsistent and had his troubles.

The whole weight thing, to me, is curious. I never thought Benn had the shape for welterweight. He always looked to me like he should be at light-welter — I know this is contrary to general opinion. That being said, he’s been up at 160, so losing that muscle and boiling back down will no doubt be challenging.

Garcia actually doesn’t appear to be much smaller than Benn. In fact, I think this is probably the right class for him and where he should be. I hear talk that Benn will be much bigger in the ring, but given he was struggling to tip the scales at middleweight (159, 156) when he fought Eubank, I’m not sure he’ll be 170 in the ring. They’re similar in height and, actually, Garcia looks thicker-set to me.

On the promotion, this fight seems massively under the radar to me. Zuffa paying Benn all that money to go to America and probably lose to Garcia seems bizarre. There’s a love-hate relationship with Benn, but surely he’d be most marketable in the UK. Does the US audience even care that much about him?

 

Right, so, on paper again it reads as a total mismatch, and I don't think Ryan's been told any different throughout camp. Meanwhile Conor's literally got nothing to lose here – he might as well go in and have a shootout from the opening bell.

 

Both made weight, 146 for Benn.

 

Screams he was on weight the whole week. I just backed Benn by KO and decision – probably more luck rubbing a genie, but you've got to go with what you feel.

 

I hope Benn does that because once Garcia lands a counter body shot it's going to be beautiful

Hardest thing for most of us will be either staying up to watch it live, or getting up to catch it. I just hope it's a good fight, but I've backed Conor.

 

Always seems the case for fights abroad when there’s no British promoter involved, even if it’s just representing the fighter. Was similar when Josh Taylor fought Jose Ramirez.

 

Zuffa have spent a fortune to get Benn on there books. Threw him straight into to a 80/20 fight at best. Looks weight drained to **** and talking about moving upto super middle, so the excuses are ready. Fight is seriously under the radar aswell. Someone has seriously ****ed up at zuffa

 

When De La Hoya fought Pacman he came in at 145 lbs which may have indicated he had some leeway with the weight, but when the fight came around it was clear the weight cut (amongst other things) had deeply affected him and he was little more than a punching bag for Pac. Obviously Benn is not ODLH and Garcia is not Manny, but it does illustrate the point that coming under the weight limit doesn't mean the weight cut was comfortable or easy.

 

De La Hoya hadn’t fought at welter for nearly eight years when he fought Pacquiao. Benn’s a natural welter. It’s not a like for like comparison Peter.
