It makes no sense to have Verhoeven fight for the world title again, just as it made no sense for him to do so previously. Otherwise, we might as well throw out the rankings, scrap world title eliminators and turn the whole thing into a circus. I hope this fight doesn't happen.
If Turki was going to compensate Hrgovic with a massive payday for it I'd like to see it from that perspective because Hrgovic deserves one. But Hrgovic made it very clear he wants unification fights next and if Sanchez is going to be paid to step aside again it should be for one of those. Hrgovic is 34 with a lot of miles on his clock and Queensberry are likely going to try and wangle a Hrgovic rematch for Moses at some point next year and are not going to be looking out for Hrgovic's best interests and what he wants to do which are unification fights. Ideally Hrgovic would like the winner of Dubois and Fabio and Kabayel in his next 2 fights but how is that going to happen if we have Sanchez, Rico and Moses in the mix too? And Rico doesn't deserve a shot and neither does Moses
It’s not even about style. It’s about boxer vs kickboxer in boxing. Usyk was just entertaining everyone
Call me picky but I'd rather see boxers win at least one professional boxing match before they go for the professional world title. Yeah I have some wacky ideas i know.
What in his style means he destroys Rico? Usyk is better technically and has no stamina problems. Rico wasn't trying to KO Usyk so Hrgovic's chin is not a differentiator. I'm sure Hrgovic probably beats him but there's nothing in Hrgovic's style that says it'd be harder for Rico. We all know if Rico hadn't actually fought Usyk no one would be saying this.
I think that's the plan, Turki is ZUFFA's financial backer and has 60% stake in the shares for that organization alongside TKO.
Rico's KO percentage is poor, Itauma hits far harder than Rico, most of his KO's came from his kicks.
Verhoeven deserves to be in the picture after that performance, but he never even fought in the sport before and should not have got a title shot right off the bat. He needs to get in line if he wants to be considered a boxer and earn his ranking. He has shown he can give an ATG a hard time so he should have no problem being motivated to take care of other opponents on the way to another shot. He’ll also make a lot of money win or lose. He seems capable enough of implement what Fury wants so I don’t doubt he’ll come up with interesting game plans depending on the opponent. That one against Usyk seemed well designed specifically for the unique difficulty Usyk brings. It wouldn’t really be effective against a Hrgovic.
Hrgovic should deal with his mandatory Sanchez in late November or December, and then unify with Kabayel next year. It doesn't make sense for him to fight Verhoeven next.
This is actually a great point. If Turkyi likes this guys o much, why not the Zuffa belt? They can match him against any bum and make him the champ they want him to be.
Hrgovic wont be bullied or bum rushed. He'll gladly trade punch for punch. Usyk is more of a clean fighter and doesnt want ugly battling. Hrgovic dgaf and will dog someone. And he will dog Rico in a way Usyk couldnt
