I don't even think the Canelo fans want that but you can maybe get a fight with Omar Chavez they both fought yesterday

 

Problem with that is he hadn't actually knocked anyone out in years

 

Looking over his record....he pretty much has sucess against older washed up fighters probably due to his decent athletism. Pretty much a case of lining up another one of them for him.

It wont pull the wool over my eyes or yours. But we,re pretty much not the target audience for Conor Benn. Can almost guarantee if he can get another knockout or good stoppage....he,ll be back in favour. Garcia,s right back in favour after stopping Benn even tho everyone says Benns hopeless at that level. The opponent isnt even all that relevant as long as its someone they can sell pretty well.

Fair point regarding the lack of knockout in recent years tho.

 

160 isn't exactly a talent rich division. He can forget 147 and 154 won't be much easier considering he packed on nearly 30 pounds day after weigh in.

Conor Benn has always been a pawn for Uncle Dana i feel like, stick it to Eddie by signing him, put him against an old washed Prograis to legitimize a Zuffa fighter being on Netflix against a “name”, let his big mouth lure in Ryan Garcia for a Big Money Fight who knocks his block off and possibly use it to poach Garcia into their stable as well.

Before ultimately they feed Benn to their “home-grown star” Callum Walsh, or just use his name dry ‘til his contract runs up. Either way i don’t get the impression Zuffa actually gives a damn about him.

Eggs Bennedict is smart enough to know that one destructive loss to a British fighter, and there's no way he can bull**** his way to a world title again. Why lose to Crocker for a few hundred grand when you can get flattened by Garcia for 20 times as much money? A whole host of British/Irish fighters beat him at 147; McCormack ices him, and so do Connah Walker, Catterrall, Donovan, and Crocker. I think these names are a mix of European/world level to be fair to Eggs, they're not domestic-level fighters.

Benn is easy work for all of them, but when you're privately educated and raised in gated communities with the likes of Eddie Hearn pretending you're a killer, you're going to have a monster ego.

God knows what's next for him, but he should retire once his Zuffa deal is up; he's made tens of millions without having a fraction of the talent that many of the top names in the sport currently do. His cash grab in the sport has been a remarkable finesse that should be studied in business circles for decades to come. With a few more fights on his Zuffa deal, I imagine he will be fed to Walsh and McKenna, but Walsh isn't actually very good either; McKenna is much better.

Zuffa may be good for his bank account, but as much of a critic I am of Matchroom, Hearn would have been the man to get Benn back in the saddle, spin a new narrative for him, get him fighting a retired name like Manny and give him a few light touches until a belt becomes available that's winnable. Sprinkle some of that "he's back and better than ever Kuggs" magic he's so good at.
