George Chuvalo vs Oliver McCall

I think McCall, especially under steward, would win. Big advantage in reach and overall size, and with both men being strong and having concrete chins, I don’t see McCall getting stopped if he starts mixing it up with Chuvalo in a slugfest. Overall, I’d favor McCall by unanimous decision, though the 15 rounds detail makes me think he could struggle in the last minutes of the match perhaps.

 

Why are there options like '... by Stoppage' in voting?

 

Make it 1k rounds and then we're talking a good over/under kind of discussion.

 

McCall had better offense. Nobody getting stopped, though.

 

Assuming these two are having the very best nights of their career I’d pick chuvalo to take it by the closest of decisions. But would I have the guts to bet money on it ? No.

 

McCall is a bit bigger but I feel like Chuvalo is more consistent in his work.

Where as McCall can go on walkabouts and lose concentration during a fight.

I watched Chuvalo's fights with Ali like a year ago. And I was impressed that Chuvalo did win numerous rounds and was able to have consistent success with body punching.

Despite Chuvalo losing handily on points he was able to stay competitive throughout with Ali.

Over 15 rounds I think I'd favour Chuvalo on points actually. He'd stay more consistent throughout the fight IMO, and would have less laspes in concentration like McCall does.

I can forgive the transparent exaggeration.
But Chuvalo won only 3 rounds in their first 5 round affair.
And Ali won a lopsided decision the second time.

How did yous core these fights?

 

Given that preset schedule, I think Chuvalo comes on during the championship rounds (viz 998th, 999th and 1000th rounds) to pip Ollie at the post.

Certainly, after 3000 mins of fighting, I don’t think either man would be too impressed if they couldn’t somehow separate them and called it a draw.

And this was not the intention, but 1K rounds with the 1 minute breaks is just over a 24 hour day!

Maybe we better make it an even week.
Then the victor could be whoever handles sleep deprivation better.
My guess is around the 3 day mark they both start hallucinating that they are dreaming.
And the one guy who is capable of lucid dreaming &/or sleep walking is able to win rounds since he is somehow more alert.

But his punches wake up the other guy & it swings back & forth.
Then they both become so tired that they sleep between each round.
Gradually recharging their batteries as they clear neuronal cobwebs & leave REM deprivation induced psychoses.
So the pace picks up again, but neither makes a dent on the other man.

Maybe we should make it for a whole month just to be definitive.

 

I'm not overly smart and have no doubt missed something but wouldn't it equate to almost 3 days or about 66hrs?

We need to have these things spot on, it's serious business here.

 

I already said Chuvalo lost handily on points but Chuvalo did still win his fair share of rounds. And despite Ali winning alot of the rounds the rounds can still be competitive overall.

I remember @Saintpat once told me a fighter can lose a fight 12-0 but the rounds can still be competitive.

As for the scoring I felt Chuvalo did well in the 2nd fight.
