If we take Vitali Klitschko and have him defend against every opponent Larry Holmes faced during his championship reign , one after the other, how's he fare?

Which opponents would be Vitali s toughest and could he remain unbeaten up to Spinks?

Vitali would have given them all the old heave-ho barring some unfortunate accident

No Vitali wouldn't have a 7 year reign without picking up an injury somewhere. His actual prime lasted about 4 years until he needed a 4 year hiatus away from the sport.

Too fragile. Would pick up some serious injury at some point.

Some of Larry s harder hitting opponents might have brought that on quicker.

Vitklit breaks down against Weaver, Cooney or Witherspoon.

Or perhaps more unexpectedly against Trevor or Leroy Jones or Bonecrusher.

But he breaks down. That’s what he does.

Or maybe just catches an acorn bomb from Earnie.

Also would love to see how he held up to the 3/4 defenses per year pace Larry kept. Vitali would be postponing left and right, every time he got a hangnail or a sparring boo boo.

If no one else would - Witherspoon would break Vitaly's streak :)

There’s at least 5 five people on Larry’s resume who are better than anyone Vitali ever beat. He’s bound to lose eventually.

Easy work for Vitali unless you imagine an injury that prevented him from finishing a single fight in his career.

Barring a torn rotator cuff or a colossal cut like he sustained in the Lewis fight, I think he would have a real chance of going through that group undefeated. Of course the aforementioned mishaps COULD happen, but the probability of him sustaining the exact same injuries is low given that each of them only happened once in a career spanning over 45 fights

Witherspoon came so close to it against Holmes.
When the 80 s guys really fought to the best of their abilities, then they were some of the toughest, most skilled generation of heavyweight s for year's.
