That probably makes it even more dangerous, since they're fortifying their wrists and hands without padding the knuckles.

It annoys the crap out of me that women are being drawn into these brutal events.

I mean, youre simply wrong. Training camps for boxers sometimes involves sparring hundreds of rounds for a single fight. BKF entire careers dont last that long. Their training can only be a fraction of that.

Its why boxers and football players are among the highest risk of CTE or Parkinson's or associated disease. They have significantly higher risk factor of repeated head/brain trauma. The gloves protect hands and faces from cuts...so MORE fighting/training can occur...your point reinforces my point. The key here is "repeated." A person that smokes one pack of a cigarettes isnt going to get cancer, but someone that smokes thousands of packs is at a much higher risk due to the repeated exposure to a known carcinogen, a risk factor for cancers. Same goes for drinking or using any drugs or even exposure to toxic substances like asbestos. One exposure to asbestos isnt likely to cause issues, but the cumulative effects compound in a bad way in our bodies over time which is why dock workers and tradesmen who handled the material were at greatest risk. Boxing and football also involve repeated head trauma that spans years and decades specifically because of the padding designed to soften blows a bit or mitigate cuts or protect the hands...however you interpret the roles of gloves, the outcome is the same, more punches to the head.

BKF is too brutal for one to fight for years or decades. You have a handful of outliers, but majority of people fight 5 or so times and have to hang it up. Its so violent that it prevents someone from doing it for longer periods.

I agree with you, but in the case of professional boxer turning to BK they already have a big mileage before starting. Also repeated Kos and KD acts as worsening factors. And we can assume that they also spars with MMA gloves

This proves my point: it preys on the vulnerable. If its too brutal for athletes to have full careers in it, then that means it will draw in rejects from other sports.
There are like 20+ knockdowns in each event, its not normal.

Even though you’re right about the CTE, it doesn’t change the fact that the gloves are there to protect the hands and face and it has nothing to do with CTE.

BKB is not more “violent” than boxing, it’s just bloodier/more broken bones, because guess what, no gloves.

Also, you do understand that BKB fighters train/spar with gloves, right?

why? A grown ass man can choose a brutal occupation but a grown ass woman can’t?

Wouldn’t surprise me if women are actually more resistant against CTE than men are. They always seem to have every health / longevity advantage over us, I don’t know why this would be different.

Same here. I only started complaining about it after watching enough of it to realize that it was really brutal. But then I kept watching some of the events due to a few names they had, mainly Trout. Now that Trout lost I haven't watched any more BKFC.

I wish this was more like 4oz Muay-Thai, with gloves and the same round format as is current.

Not even mma fighters spar hard with mma gloves. Ferea used to train with a friend of mine, her training doesn’t differ much from regular boxing training with regular boxing equipment.

Why? Should women not have the same agency as men?

So I am hallucinating all of the knockdowns in each event?

I pulled up a random event highlight: 8 of 10 fights had at least 1 knockdown scored, and in total there were about 20 knockdowns. I have watched my share of boxing, and this is not normal.
    And these are medical concussions.

Idk how many events they've had but people have already died from BKFC. It is in no way safer than normal boxing. The risk in boxing for cte is sparring with headgear and gloves on, which bareknuckle fighters absolutely do.

From a health standpoint bare knuckle is technically safer than gloved boxing. The gloves are worse in relation to sustained sub concussive blows.

However, in practice these promotions tend to hire shop worn fighters who've already had years if not decades of previous head trauma either in MMA or traditional boxing.

Also, if they adopted the punching styles of the true old school bare knuckle fighters that would help.

Not as long as they wrap their wrists and hands below the knuckles. The "safest" option would be completely bare wrists, hands and knuckles.

    Frank Mir explains it well.
