Why do you think that? I don't see it at all. The only similarities they have is they're both fast and both throw combinations. Even if we stick with Shane, Floyd won that fight by putting Mosely on the back foot after being rocked. That's not happening against Robinson, it'd be suicide.

If Floyd felt like he could be most effective on the front foot, it wouldn’t be suicide because Floyd figures that out according to what the opponent is doing.

I would favor Robinson for two reasons.

Firstly he is more complete for my money.

Secondly just getting them in the same ring, under the same weigh in, is likely going to mean a prime Robinson, and a slowly fading version of Mayweather.

I think Floyd would start off looking good in the early rounds then Ray would start to come on. I'll go with Ray by a couple of points because of his heavier punches and body work and experience.

    Wait a minute..

..didn't Sugar Ray Robinson fight Kid Gavilan, Fritzie Zivic, Henry Armstrong and Jake LaMotta at welterweight? Man, we've been hearing that for years and years. Nobody today has heard of that? Can't be. That's where he made his name, at welterweight.

But I could have sworn there were snippets of Ray at welterweight. Knocking some guy thru the ropes? Looking real skinny.

    Isn't Ray still #1 P4P?

Not in the way Floyd mastered the shoulder roll no. Youre welcome to show me fight footage to prove your point, but if you found it you would have shared it already. My evidence comes from Floyd beating elite modern fighters comfortably.

An undefeated fighter who defeated Pacquiao, Canelo, De La Hoya,Mosley, Cotto, Márquez, Corrales,Gatti, Hernández ,Castillo, Hatton and im a troll for believing his modern boxing style defeats a fighter from the 50's? Yes im a new account, whats the problem? Im here to discuss boxing with evidence not get annoyed at others for picking another fighter whos not my 'fav'. Does Jesse Owens defeat Usain Bolt? Does a Greek wrestler from Ancient Greece defeat defeat Kurt Angle in a wrestling match? Times change , humans improve and thier baseline becomes higher than a level considered 'elite' 70 years ago.

Nutrition isn't a buzzword, and neither is the term 'sports psychology'. Like it or not, being a multi-millionaire gets you access to superior fuel which makes your body perform better. Sports psychology also matters; Holyfield drew on his wife's expertise in pain management to deal with Tyson, and he dominated him in two fights. Ali used sports psychology to deal with Foreman, and successful franchises like the Patriots have entire departments built for this. Ray Robinson had access to absolutely none of this.

Yeah yeah and when he choses not to swim it's because he's decided to walk on water. Floyd coming forward against Robinson isn't gonna happen because if he did, he'd get pummeled, you must know this.

You should be entitled to a very arguable opinion!

Although Ancient Greece is a wholly different age & sport compared to Owens & Bolt: that is a good compairson.
First if you gave Owens the same track & shoes, let alone actual starting blocks, their times would be significantly closer.
And if Bolt used PEDs-I have no idea, but so many top sprinters did-then he might not even be better on even conditions absent cheating.

But let is assume he was clean, & yes faster.
However boxing is much more complex-& certain things like tons of fights & experience + in a short span & that there is no advantage in what helps many in other sports-& at HW-size being equalized, means when boxing had reached SRR time, the possible Lb. for lb. GOAT can very reasonably be favored over a modern man his size.

As time goes by, athletes improve. This is an undisputed fact, and the constant breaking of world records proves it. Modern nutrition, advanced recovery techniques, supplements, and specialized training equipment all combine to sharpen a fighter's tools.
MMA is mainstream; everyday people casually discuss 'chokeholds,' which would be unheard of in Robinson's era. If a regular person trained in MMA for just a year and was teleported back to the 1950s, onlookers would watch in awe as they easily dominated a vintage 'tough guy' by escaping grips, playing full guard, staying calm ,whatever. The same logic applies. The baseline of modern skills is simply too high for a 1950s fighter to handle. For decades, elite trainers have had to adapt to new strategies, passing down accumulated knowledge from generation to generation. The modern baseline of skill has skyrocketed. Floyd is an undefeated world champion boxer. Hes took on everyone else whos elite and beat them. His entire career he was not well liked by the media or public. Hes a human being and that on some level would take its toll. The man ended his career coming through all that a winner. Do not underestimate his mentality.

A quick Google gave me this definition, which I'll use: "A buzzword is a trendy word or phrase from a specific field that becomes very popular through frequent use, often sounding important or technical while losing its actual meaning"

'Nutrition' is just that; food hasn't gotten better. In fact, in the US, it's gotten worse. Everything you can get from food today, you could then, and what you get from supplements is so small it barely matters. Hence the name supplement. What you really mean to say is, Floyd has access to PEDs.

And sports psychology is the buzzword to end all buzzwords. What advances in sports psychology partain to an illiterate ****** like Floyd in particular? And, to what end? Modern fighters aren't as mentally tough as older fighters.

Seems strange to argue Floyd wins on the back of the rest of humanity's achievements rather than what he could do in a boxing
    ring.

Well...If we reincarnated them, they should have access to the same food to make it fair.
Although I do not know how much Floyd's diet compared to SRR made a difference.
When I Googled what they both ate & the guilty pleasures it seems pretty similar.
Also some comfort food & high calorie food may be bad if not so active, or not as good for health, but not hurt boxing ability if one has adequate fuel & healthy food too.

Ali scored an 82 in an IQ test & embarrassed, said he was the Greatest, not the smartest.
His sports psychology came from instinct, no academia, & athletes used that sort of manipulation since Ye Olden Ancient Thymes!

Tell us about Holyfield & pain management, I never heard of him using his wife's expertise.
Now Holyfield used the very modern & illegal PEDs to enhance his body, without that modern but illegitimate strategy, I do not think he wins. Especially since he relied on moving him around & clinching.
And he trained greatly & obsessively for Tyson, while Tyson was so many years since his peak & his movement & defense were much worse.

Granted many favor their own biases & old athletes without rationality, such as if you reincarnated an ATG HW who weighed in the 180's, they would beat the best fighters from today.

Although methinks you may too automatically favor modern guys.
We also have little footage of WW & peak SRR, but I doubt Floyd could adequately keep him at bay throughout a fight.
Some of th old greats were really experienced with all fight styles & adaptable.

I’ve been here nearly 15 years.

    I’ve seen it all before.

    You’re not a casual fan.

Because a casual fan wouldn’t become a member here, and they would have no idea who Archie Moore was.

Now nobody who knew of Archie Moore, would write such absolute laughable nonsense.

It would be an insult to the likes of Moore.

So the only conclusion, is that you need some attention.

There’s no way that that’s a legit post.

There’s no way that you really believe that.
