I tend to agree, at least with the Joe we saw against Hopkins. Qawi beats any version though, regardless of whether or not it's by KO.
A past prime Calzaghe at a new weight against a spoiling Bhop isnt a very fair comparison. No version of Calzaghe gets KO'd by Qwai. Impossible to judge how Calzaghe would have grown into a LH coz he wont have more than three fights at the weight.
Qwai could hit like a truck when he sat down on his punches. He rocked Holyfield, hurt Spinks, and stopped Saad Muhammad. Qwai wins this fight and probally by stoppage. If Spinks did not fight in his era he would have ruled the roost in a deep Lt. Heavy division.
Im not sure if Dwight stops him but he would tear him a new one thats for sure. Joe would battle him on the inside, cause he can fairly well. But the stocky Qawi would dominate on the inside, I dont think its even close. I think even if Joe tries to move it to the outside with his speed and height Dwight still hunts him down.
The RJJ debate has been done to death. Toney was already at Cruiser while Calzaghe was STARTING his SMW reign. If your going to blindly bash Calzaghe at least try to be accurate.
Qawi was fighting his demons throughout his career, and it showed when he had his biggest bouts. I suspect a fully motivated clean Braxton could of given Calzaghe hell, but Qawi seemed to struggle under the pressure of fights against big names, so I take Calzaghe to win a decision.
joe might be taller but it's clear that qawi is far bigger and stronger. in a big muscle fight qawi just dominates him. joe isnt a light heavy. he didnt wieght over the light heavy limit on fight night. he is small for the weight
He was not expected to win the (first) Saad fight; he had little pressure on him, thus he could control his drinking easier. But he was considered to have a chance against Spinks and blew it, I suspect not least because he could not control his demons, something he admitted to in recent years.
Qawi was a devestating fighter and I think the styles are good for him here. I take Qawi to stop calzaghe towards the end of 15
Sigh, He's been a Champion for 11 years. Toney was still a Light Heavy while Jones was just starting to peak as a Light Heavy and had already been a Super Middleweight Champion. If one wants to be the best, fight the best.
