Toney was in career freefall as a light heavy.Turning in one lazy performance after another.

At what point during Calzaghes reign was Toney at lightheavy!? JT's last fight at LH was in 97, the same year Calzaghe beat Eubank. As for RJJ youre preaching to the choir moron, im not a nuthugger who thinks roy should have went to wales. This wasnt even the thread topic ya cretin, my point was its impossible to judge joe at lh coz he waited too long to move up,he should have gone 2002/3. You can sigh all you want ya dopey **** but try having some facts before you jump on a post, no-one mentioned anything about being the best.

So you think that in October 97 after his first title fight, the first thing Calzaghe should have done was immedielty go up to LH and fight James Toney!?. A James Toney that had already fought for an alphabet cruiser title, and had failed to make weight in his last LH fight. That is easily the dumbest thing i have ever heard.

You brought up RJJ not me.

I might not have made my original point very well so ill try again, It would be unfair to judge Calzaghe on how he would perform at LH against Qawi on one fight against a now spoiler fighter like BHop, Nobody knows if his chin or speed would have carried well at the bigger weight in his prime coz he didnt go, he didnt look impressive at all against Bhop, but at the momment ill give Bhop the credit for that rather than assume Calzaghe would be usless at LH even if given time to grow into it. Im not going to automatically assume Qwai knocks him out coz he got dropped by hop and wasnt impressive at the weight or that Qwai was that devastating a puncher that even if Joe was as good at LH as he was at SM that he would be put to sleep. Qwai might very well beat him more times than lose, and maybe easily who knows, but id like to know what they've seen in Joes chin that cast doubt on whether he could go the distance with a hard, not devastating puncher as Qwai. IMO he doesnt KO him, feel free to debate that, but dont bring in James Toney or RJJ when its got nothing to do with them.

As for Dopey **** See my first paragraph.

OK fair enough. I'm glad you clarified this for me. As for me talking about Toney, I admit I was a bit out of line in that. As for the Dopey **** part well lets just say I've been called worse by my Mother, so it's cool.:thumbsup

I think Qawi wins it but not easily. Calzaghe would definitely have his moments but it wont be enough imo.

Qawi wins this, absolutely no doubt whatsoever in my mind. Dwight feasted on guys who came in swinging with wide punches, and Calzaghe isn`t going to fight him off the backfoot as it wasn`t his style. He`ll be coming in looking to mix it up and outwork him, but he will pay a heavy price for doing so and fifteen rounds is a loong time to be in the ring with a motivated Qawi. Dwight will slip n` roll and counter the bejesus out of Joe and will pound him into submission somewhere between the tenth and final round, I don`t see Calzaghe lasting the distance in this one.

Calzaghe would never to be able to get Qawi's respect and he'll just get grinded down

Calzaghe would've been a LHW in those days though. Not only because there was no SMW, but different weigh-in rules, and Joe said for a long time he had problems making 168 under current rules.

I think it's a fair enough matchup in terms of size. Qawi wins.

Qawi would have handed Joe his first loss. It would have been competitive in the early going, but Dwight would have caught up with his man around the ninth.

Those stating qawi with no doubt, are guilty of underestimating the supreme ring generaliship and will power of joe C.
Joe will quickly find out that dwight is powerful, big and dangerous,so he will fight off the back foot, and use speed, angles and the southpaw jab to nullify quawi. (watch the adjustment of joe after round 4 in the kessler fight.) Joe is basically a natural lt heavy anyway,so he wont be drastically undersized.
Joe didnt know how to lose, and always knew how to win. People always downgrade him,but history will be much kinder, and rate him the number 1 168 er in history.
    Joe C UD 15.

Calzaghe wouldnt be able to get Qawis respect hed walk thru Calzaghes shot, but best believe Calzaghe is gonna be feeling the Camden buzzsaw attack. Joe would hold is own for a while landing his fair share of flashy combos but Qawi eventually breaks him and stops him around 9 or 10 rounds.
