One I've heard on a similar note- during Robinson's comeback to regain the middleweight title, his manager was talking him up to the press and said, "We want Olsen! We want Olsen, and then we want Marciano!" to which Robinson added, "Yeah- I'll fight Olsen, and he can fight Marciano."

I think this is a direct result of Bernard beating a Pavlik who was out of his depth with Hopkins.Marciano eventually caught up with classy boxers and crucified them,Hopkins would not go the distance with Walcott or Charles imo, against Marciano he gets seriously maimed or taken out quick ,which would be a more humane option for him. I wonder how many more of these threads we will have to put to bed?

Rocky was way too strong for Bernard. A brutal physical mauling would proceed the inevitable knockout in round 7 or 8, or maybe earlier. There is no way Hopkins could withstand a right to the chin ala Rocky of the 1st Walcott fight, or anything close to it, or for that matter, withstanding the mauling, systematic beatdown of the Moore fight.

A long time ago people who used to go to the Coloseum to watch captives being fed to the lions so I guess there's a precedent for this kind of thing. Marciano just walks him down.

    What is this?

Bernard was a MW. He only built himself up to LHW at the later stage of his career.

So Rocky, even at 185 would be 25 pounds heavier.

I will not comment on the outcome.

If Charles and Walcott couldn't do it, the man who never fought at HW is certainly not going to do it and sparked out in round 8

    Marciano by KO.

Bernard at his prime was a middleweight fighter.

did you just call Marciano a club fighter??

'**** Hopkins feasts on former 140lbers, not HW champions
