But we're not talking about old men, we're talking about prime on prime.

I never said he hurt Roy - I said dropped him - I'm pretty sure it was Lou De Valle yeah?

On the same page mate, don't confuse me for an Eastside hysteric, I maintain a cool head at all times. ;)

The old man comment was directed at Zippyman

I dont see how anyone ca n vote for Joe.

The fight was close with Roy 40 years old.

Joe accomplishment wise was the best at 168 but head to head Roy Jones was a beast. And thats an understatement.

How dare anyone to think that any fighter in history, let alone a prime Joe, would be able to put a dent in a prime Roy. Roy could have KOed anybody in history with one punch at any point he wants. He just dragged those out just for us, the viewers.
But Roy was not only a omnipotent fighter but also one of unsong grace. Since every fighter ever walking this planet had, the same chance of winning against him -0%- he looked at who was really in need of that big payday. Seeing how underpayed the state services are, he went on a mission to give every municipal worker avaiable, that extra payday he deserves. A truely great man...

joe calzaghe on points, too much pressure and workrate,a great southpaw like joe gives prime roided roy fits.

people seem to forget joe is past it also.joe is past it and roy is almost shot but not quite, and it was almost a landslide.

joe in his prime vs a prime roy is much closer than last nights fight, but joe takes it. roy dnt like southpaws, and joe is an unbelievable southpaw.

joe is the only fighter that can match roy give or take in any department, speed, workrate, underated footwork, chin, heart, skills.:good

Jones would be win because of Calzaghe's infamous weakness to a simple straight right alone. I think Calzaghe was a little more durable in his prime so Jones via an 8-4 decision. Would be a hugely entertaining fight all the way.

    Close?

    What fight did you watch?

Those judges had Calzaghe winning every round bar the first!

Obviously Roy would have been a lot less worn 6 or 7 years ago but I think Joe deserves a lot more credit than he gets given. He also was a better fighter a few years ago.

Calzaghe also gets ribbed for having too many home fights and not fighting great opposition.
Lets remember that Roy fought some real bums in his career and how many times did he fight outside his home country?

Prime Calzaghe vs Jones Jnr is too tough to call for me but don't fall into the trap of underestimating/overrating these great fighters.

Looks like Roy is getting a lot of sympathy votes..

The reality is that Roy and Joe fought when they were both past prime, and Joe won the fight easily enough.

I'd have to say Jones by a wide points margin...or possibly a KO.Fast as Calzaghe is,he 's got nothing on the SMW Roy Jones...He's struggle just to land anything on him....whereas Roy could potshot him all night...and if he decides to open up,it's goodnight Joe...

Hate to say it,but Roy did everything Calzaghe could do better...and then some.Roy Jones in his prime, was the most physically gifted fighter in the history of boxing...bar none. His physical abilities,I've never seen anyone quite match..and I've seen a lot...

Calzaghe would'nt even have a punchers chance...he simply just did'nt punch that hard...If anything Joe would be trying to force the fight...and yes he's fast...and that would lead to a possible KO.

    Jones by stoppage. He would

Jones almost had Joe out of there in the first round in their bout.lol. He had had a bit more in the tank he would have stopped him.

A prime Jones was a boxing god with gloves at 168. Jones by wide UD would be my pick:deal
