What's so bad about training to failure? I tend to always train to failure (eg. having to be spotted for the last rep etc) - if I don't I feel like I'm not pushing myself :/

Training to failure prolongs the recovery process and while it does promote hypertrophy, it diminishes strength returns.

My goals are to reach the highest weight to power ratio i can possibly achieve.

Thank you. No, going to the gym isnt an option so i researched for months on the net (Pavel Tsatouline) and bought whatever equipment i could afford. I am 28 years old and have had better results now than when i was a member at bally's at 21 years of age.

:thinkExplain. From what i have read, the body uses fat as the main source of fuel since you are in a catabolic state from 8 hours or more, of no eating. Thus, glycogen levels are depleted or very low and the body switches to fat burning mode. Only if the cardio is moderate and aerobic as opposed to anaerobic, which just eats up your muscles (weight lifting, sprints) in this state.

It has worked very well for me and i am FAR from a genetic freak who can eat anything and be cut. I have worked very hard to get here.

Well, to me, having the bare minimum fat and weight year round is very important to me as i dont like to cut bbig amounts of weight before a fight.

I try not to plan a specific routine due to my work schedule and how my body may feel at the time.

However, since i am starting my cutting phase again this week, i am starting today off w kettlebell swings that number as follows

1 hand 1 swing, switch hand, 1 swing, 2 swings, switch..until i reach 5 and then start over at 1. repeat until you are fatigued but not to failure.

2 sets of this is done before i go on a morning run of 2 miles(fartlek)

Plyo and strength will consist today of 2 sets of 5 for cleans and deadlifts.

Your body is more likely to burn muscle than fat.

"Exercising on an empty stomach does not force the body to burn more fat. In some cases, it actually forces it to break
down more muscle to get at amino acids, which is converted into glucose and then helps supply the body with energy.
Small amounts of glucose are needed to burn fat. (Supplying muscle to help move the body)."

Aerobic eats up your muscles, anaerobic slows down catabolism. Compare a marathon runner to a top level sprinter.
