you guys act as if margo would just stand there taking shots all night....
tommy has gone the distance at 147 with a guy that had been ko'd many times before ....

That was a young, pre-prime Hearns. He's also KO'd much better, more durable fighters than that guy from WW to MW, so it's not like that fight has any real relevance at all.

And the way I see it, your first paragraph is actually, basically how I see it going down. Margo's porous defense, slow/wide punches, lack of footwork, etc. just don't bode well for him at all vs Hearns, who'd be using his far superior jab and technical skills to land clean shots at will, and very powerful shots at that. He was also far faster and had the ability to use his legs very well if needed. Margo just doesn't stand a chance.

Everybody should agree that Margo would not take a Hearns Straight Right near as well as he took the Cotto Straight Right.

That was a different time, and a different area when fighter actually practiced they're craft.. The only guys that got by Tommy were the one who were truely gifted at defense or when he decided to move up in the heavier weight class.
As the thread suggested prime for prime and Tommy was a monster in his prime at welter , Tommy threw just as many punches when needed but with explosive power .
I don't see Margarito wading forward into Tommy taking five punches to land two, he would better respect for tommy's power, body and head punches , which tommy was very good mixing up from top to bottom, along with his long reach and speed it was hard to tell were he would strike next .

I think margarito get stopped whether it on his feet or his back he gets stopped.

but you should be thankful that margarito is even mention along the name like Tommy Hearns which is a honor in it self, despite if you think he wins or loses.

 

Hearns is a far superior fighter in all departments beside chin to Marg. His speed & explosive power would be too much for Marg. Ko or tko win to the only Hitman.
