Well, we saw an upset of historical proportions on October 18th when Kelly Pavlik, WBC/WBO/The Ring Middleweight Champion, lose to former light heavyweight and former undisputed middleweight champion, Bernard Hopkins at a catchweight of 170 lbs. After that dismal performance, how does this affect Pavlik's chances to defeat rival champions in IBF Champ Arthur Abraham and WBA Champ Felix Sturm to be in his own right an undisputed middleweight champion?

I dont think his chances have really changed...maybe his opponents have a little more confidence now so that will show... But think he will still Ko any fighter that comes to him...

Unless it completely ruined his confidence, it doesn't hurt his chances at all. He has significant stylistic and physical advantages over both Abraham and Sturm if he can stick to the gameplan he used against Taylor and in most of his fights prior to Hopkins (i.e., use your height, throw 80 punches a round, clinch if you get in trouble).

If Abraham and Sturm fight Pavlik, Kelly will walk away the undisputed champ at 160.

I have some serious respect for AA. The guy is a warrior. Against Pavlik he just has to many disadvantages. Height, reach, strength, work rate, stamina, power, experience, and over all skill all go to Pavlik.

Arthur has decent defense, and a good right hand. Other than that he really doesn't have much going for hm in a matchwith KP. His low work rate will cost him most rounds. His habit of going to the ropes when he's under pressure is ****ing suicide against Kelly Pavlik.

I'm confident that Pavlik/Abraham will happen next year. I'm also confident that this fight will clearly illustrate the difference between a very good regional star, and an elite world champion. Pavlik KO8 Abraham.

I think Pavlik/Abraham is one of the best fights that can be made in boxing. I expect this to be one of those crazy fights that ends in 3 rounds. With Abraham as the victor of course.

I also think AA beats him unless Pavlik actually stays on the outside and picks him apart but i doubt it. He'll come in and get KO'd.

Pavlik - AA is a 50-50 fight and I doubt Sturm will fight him.

Unifications dont really matter because Pavlik is the undisputed champ until he is beaten.

sorry, but everybody who thinks Pavlik holds an edge in power and strength is biased or has no clue about boxing. Power is not even debatable and in terms of strength, well, AA has the upper body of an light heavy and don't be suprised when he is bullying KP all over the ring.

    ... which will never happen.

Pavlik-Abe isn't a PPV fight and Arum is fond of PPVs. Dude doesn't learn the lesson of ony 180,000 buys against Hopkins.

So I expect Pavlik fight "the legends" again: Winky, Taylor III, ...

I can't believe Sturm-AA didn't happen. Well, how about Sturm-Pavlik and AA-Winky on the same card and the winners do it
