I know I didnt know who he was, i remember when the name first came up i thought is was a joke...How he got the ranking in the WBA stinks of corruption he was unranked by the WBO, IBF, WBC..Not even in the top 30, yet some how he was ranked in the top 5 by the WBA despite not having even won one of their fringe belts or even beatting a fighter that was ranked...That fight was a joke...How someone could say without busting out into laughter that it was a fight on par with Green or Miranda only shows the level of nuthuggerty on this site.

As compared to the guys that Kessler did fight, Miranda and Green are heads and shoulders above them....It dont matter who Miranda lost to AA, he wouldnt lose to the guys that Kessler fought so what is your point???

And why is it that only the names of Green and Miranda are being thrown around??? Are they the only fighters in the world that he could have fought???

Green Miranda's *****??? I dont think so, Green was an ill young man and actaully had some life threating sickness going into the fight with Miranda and had no clue of it, yet and still he with alittle more aggressiveness would have likely stopped Miranda early in the fight.

Or maybe you need to lower your opinion of Green and Miranda. :deal
edit: their names are being tossed around because theirs are the names mentioned directly in the poll. :readthre:

Yes, Sean. Maybe he was and maybe you knew that. I have a lot of respect for your boxing knowledge. However, I think you agree that a very small percentage of boxing fans had ever heard the name Dimitri Sartisov before the fight with Kessler. Now, I think Sartisov did a good job and all, but how good he is is really beside the point. Look at it this way: Perhaps Joe Unknown jumped 10 meters one day in the forrest..does that give him respect if noone saw it? No. No matter how good or how bad Sartison turns out to be, fact is he was a nobody and noone knew if he was a Russian Ski jumper or a boxer before the Kessler fight.

Because of this, these fight did nothing for Kessler at all. They did not even give him exposure in markets where he had little exposure beforehand. Very few people saw Kessler for the first time in any of those fights. Had he fought Miranda and Green, many would have seen Kessler for the first (or one of the first times) and he would have had plenty of opportunity to create new fans. Fighting those two others is unlikely to have given Kessler any new fans.

Waste of time and Miranda and Green would have done so much more for Kessler.

My point is why are they the only names??? I see that they are the ones on the poll, but they arent the only fighters that he could have fought...And some guy putting it in a poll dont make it law...

dont really think that Highly of Green and Miranda, i do however think much more of them then the guys that kessler fought which is the point of the thread...If you asked me about Andrade or Green then I would have said Andrade.

Im know that Im not saying that Miranda or Green would have beat Kessler..In fact when it looked as if Kessler would fight Miranda i said that Kessler would beat him, easy much the same way that Pavlik did. Its not a matter of thinking that those guys had a better chance of beatting him, i do think that Green if healthy and at supermiddle would have been the most likely of the four fighters to beat kessler.

    i understand on sartison

that was a no win fight for kessler.
know one had heard of him, including in europe, no nmae fighter but with good skills and no little abilty, so kessler got the win but no credit.

on the other hand kessler got a lot of exposure and marketing in germany for the haussler fight.

even the germans before this fight new kessler would win and there man had no chance and it was a showcase in boxings biggest tv market for kessler.

but of course no credit and none should be given because haussler was a gimmee.

thats why i would have liked team kessler to have wrapped these 2 fights up earleir in the year , leaving room for a high profile american name in the later months of the year.

did not happen this way , so going to have to happen now.

to make his name in america jermain taylor is the only name that is going to cut it.

but that is not in team kesslers hands, that will be taylor`s choice.

i do not beleive green v kessler fight would have made much waves.

green is an inside boxing name for diehards like us , but is not a big pull to the casual boxing fan.

taylor is the big name that most of the boxing american fans know and that is who kessler must fightif he wants to make his name and legacy big in america.

Kessler's 2008 resume is far from the best on the table, for sure. Coming off his first loss and dominating a young unbeaten (albeit unknown) fighter and a solid but overmatched contender, however? There are certainly worse. I think Kessler suffers from all the buildup pre-Calzaghe; it was expected that after his respectable showing in that loss he would automatically resume the same momentum he had going into it. That's not how the politics side of this game works. We sit here and say "Wow passing up Miranda, an easy notch in his belt, decent payday, and HBO opportunity, was career suicide!" but had he done that who's to say people in Europe wouldn't be sitting there going "What the ****, there are plenty of fighters over here and he goes to fight some trash middleweight in the States?!" Perspective is a powerful thing. :good
