It's close, but I would have to vote Pac. He IS the P4P champ...

Hmmm, as they stand today I would say Pac is a better "Fighter" but Oscar's a better "Boxer." I voted on total package and gave it to Oscar. Manny's younger and so his speed is great. Oscar's speed is slowing down but still fast enough to land on defensive fighters like Mayweather/Forbes. I think Oscar can move forward and be defensive while on the offense and be offensive while moving backward. I think Manny still has a lot to learn in boxing terms but Manny in the divisions of 130-135 is unstoppable. At 147 he's very stoppable.

this distinction between boxer and fighter is what i want to avoid.

The question i'm asking is like asking who is the better tennis player. Sure, one might be better at serving and volleying, and the other at playing from the baseline, but at the end of the day one is a better player than the other.

Right now yeah...career wise, it isn't even close. Dlh won and lost agains the very best of his era in their prime. Pac faced "past it" guys and only has maybe 4 fights against top of the line prime opposition.

well the question clearly says right now, so why didn't you vote? Are you allergic to saying something positive about Pac?

De La Hoya is the better fighter of the two, and that's why he wins fight, coupled with the fact he has a size advantage.

This is what I meant when I spoke of Pac being great at his past divisions. By being a better "fighter" (someone who gets job done, esp. through power and speed and determination) he overwhelms his opponents and comes out on top. This makes him better currently than most boxers including Hoya in a p4p sense. However, its the skills you take when moving up in weight and not so much the power and speed and when power and speed are gone its the skills you fall back on. Skills will get you out of trouble when you're about to get ko'd.

It isn't Pac, it's his comp that Arum has him fighting. I don't vote on questions like this. I vote in real polls. The question is good, but it doesn't need a poll. This is a free world.

I'm much more of an Oscar fan, but there's no denying both right now and overall Pac is the better fighter p4p.

    I disagree.

I think it Hoya and Pacquiao are the same size, Oscar would still come out victorious. He has adapted to styles in the past, and just because he has more money than most posters here, don't mean he wasn't and still is a great fighter. The only opponents who have beat him recently have been the likes of Trinidad, Hopkins, and Mayweather. I thought he beat Trinidad, and the 2nd Mosley fight was very close. Oscar is world class, and as far as skills and intangibles, Oscar is better than Pacquiao. In my opinion.

So what do you think the reason is. Pac is a superb fighter, so why would I hate on him...if you had to guess. You can even use my past posts to formulate your own opinion:lol:.
