If pacman beats oscar, i dont care what bernard, Joe or Margarito.

If Pacman loses, its a close one between

Margarito had 2 good fights against good(cintron) and GREAT(cotto) opposition

Joe Beat a good fighter(bernard) and a washed up(roy) fighter

Bernard Lost to Joe and dominated a good fighter(pavlik)

    Smells like Margarito.

but again, all worthless if Pacman beats oscar.

    Either Margarito or Darchinyan.

I have no idea why any objective person would say Calzaghe.

Margarito defeated two prime title-holders in impressive fashion, in the best division in the sport. One of them was an undefeated champ ranked in the top 10 p4p.

Darchinyan defeated two title-holders, and one of them was an absolutely dominating win over a top 10 ranked p4p fighter in Mijares.

Calzaghe wasn't too impressive in his win over Hopkins. And Jones? The guy hasn't done anything impressive in the ring in 5 years!!

Quality of wins >>>>>>>>>> Name Value

Abraham's defense is highly over rated. Name one world class, heavy handed, offensive bully on his resume'. Just one is all I ask. Arthur's very short arms make it difficult to use his shell defense. He has to choose between protecting his head or his body. A lead right to the body brings his arms down. A double jab to the head and the arms go up. Arthur goes to the ropes like he always does when he's under pressure. Pavlik turns the ring into a ****ing phone booth like he did with JT, EM, and Zertuche, Arthur's efforts to counter fail because his arms are to short, and KP scores yet another highlight reel KO adding to the ever growing list of guys who had never been stopped until they got Pavlikated. This is not a difficult fight to analyze. However, AA has been getting massive hype on ESB since he KOed Miranda.

Pavlik KO8 Abraham. I made this prediction right after Pavlik became The World Champion, and Arthur has not done anything to change my mind. Arthur's best shot would be to bring the smurf hat back. Maybe he can get KP to laughing so hard he can't fight:yep

I said "objective fan", so someone who says Calzaghe is a top 5 fighter all-time need not apply.

I'm curious though, as to why Calzaghe is often mentioned over the likes of Margarito and Darchinyan, whose wins are far better than Calzaghe's.

Those who choose JC can't all be blind fanboys, I don't think.

i disagree, Calzaghe beat bhop and RJJ, he couldnt beat bigger names this year, if you count the Kessler fight as being this year 3 fights and 3 worldchampions beaten.

    Margarito beat Cotto.

    Darchinyan won 2 fights.

and to everyone who says Bhop, well you cant just airbrush he lost a fight, even if Bhop said he won etc etc etc.

Why the hell would you count the Kessler fight?:roll: That was 2007

As I already said, quality of wins is much more important than name value.

Jones may be a big name, but he hasn't done anything impressive in the ring since 2003. No, beating the smaller Tito coming off nearly 3 years of inactivity does not count.

Beating prime welterweight title-holders in Cintron and Cotto in impressive fashion, the latter being an undefeated top 10 p4p fighter, is easily better than a close ugly win over Hopkins and a 2008 version of Roy Jones.

So is beating two title-holders in Kirilov and Mijares, especially the way Mijares was being viewed before Vic beat the hell out of him.

    Why would you count it?

Are you that desperate to defend Calzaghe that you'd list a fight from 2007 to say he's fighter of the year?

    What are you talking about?

    Who's talking about p4p?

If you count the Tsyzu and Castillo fights, this year totally belongs to Ricky Hatton.
