I want to know how many fighters out there, who have poured their heart and soul into the sport DO NOT FIGHT for MONEY first.

That being said, why do so many fans hate on fighters who have put their health on the line year after year, fight after fight, for the sake of making a living, sometimes not a very decent one.

Isn't it every fighters goal and dream to be in a multi-million dollar fight?? Perhaps 2 of them, or perhaps all of them?

So then why do we trash these guys who entertain us by jeopordizing their health when they finally get the power to call shots and choose who they want to fight and for how much?

Professional boxers are called prize fighters, so yes they fight for money. The problem is that many times we as fans believe we deserve to see certain fights at a certain time, and if we don't get them we do the only thing we can do... talk trash. I don't agree with this behavior and I try not to be part of it, but it's just the way it is. The are of course other factors that make fans talk trash, like Hippocrates, boxers or promoters being too greedy, the excessive protection of fighters, etc.

Joking aside, I think most of the guys who only fight for money and don't really have their hearts 100% in it don't make it to the top. To be a success you have to have such an insane competitiveness that I think more than JUST money factors into it.

I'm with you though; I don't blame guys for taking the best money they can get, considering the lifespan and lack of pension of a fighter.

The man created the foundation for modern medicine and has been dead for 3000 years or so. I don't think he has anything to do with trash talking...:D
